Re: Rossi M92 sight removal
Thanks for the replies. I would like to think it is --- out from (left to right) and in (right to left) but this darn sight would not budge with general tapping. Did not want to hammer the heck out of it first, then ruining the presumed dovetail taper, before asking. 45Colt, It is my intent to remov...

Which direction are Rossi sights removed? Left to Right or Right to Left??? This is on a Rossi 24" octagon barrel.
They do not want to move either direction. Are they by chance glued in??

Re: Remington Creedmoor Long Range rifle
marlinman93,
Thanks for all that info. I have a Remington Rolling Block book by Schreier. It does have a section about the Creedmoor but it does not define the parameter of the rifle, like you have. It only has one rifle pictured with an octagon barrel.
Again, thanks for the detailed description.

Pitchy, So, I went and checked them. Both are Perfections. One has a triangular plate that is stamped 525 and it has a screen. The other has a fancy scrolled plate that is stamped 130-C and it definitely has a mica window. I was thinking the screen was just a replacement, so that is why I stated the...

Pitchy,
What material did you use for the window? The original material was a pressed mylar, I think. One of mine has a torn window, I would not mind replacing it and the other is very cloudy.

Scott, Stole this from another site. But I think the original author posted here, also. "Testing some original 44WCF blackpowder cartridges. The dead primers were replaced and the 5 rounds averaged 1320 fps." This was written by w44wcf in a posted named My 44-40 Blackpowder Journey. When I...

Scott, You 'found one' or did you 'make yours'. Referring to the original 1873. Very nice looking carbine. I have owned an original Win '73 rifle (24") since 1993. It is vintage 1889 in 44/40 and I matched it with a 44/40 - 7.5" Cim 1873 revolver for my early CAS days. But I have always wa...

Scott, Earlier I thought you had already confirmed that the chamber was cut for 44 Mag length. I suggested my 44Mag load to you so that you would not end up with common issues of shooting a lot of short brass bullets in a longer chamber. 1. That being the build-up of lead between the brass mouth and...

Re: 1873 in .44 Special
Scott, You may want to consider the following load. I used a 44Mag Marlin for CAS back in the early '90's. I used a Lee 214 gr bullet and 8.0 gr of Unique in a 44Mag casing. That was very close representation of a 44/40 smokeless load. Mike Venturino recommended 8.0gr of Unique for the 38/40, 44/40 ...

'Not to be a know-it-all' but it is said that the hot blast was to be used 'inside/indoors' because of what you stated Pitchy. It re-burns the gases therefore it produces less odors. The more common Hurricane Lanterns were more for the outdoors or barn area because it was designed to shelter the win...

I am going to address your question directly, as asked. This is because of it lighter bullet we...
