On primers backing out, don't discount a long chamber. Check fired cases against factory to see if the shoulder is a little farther forward on the fired cases.

6.5 PRC, what the Creedmoor fanboys should have waited for. I'm not a "magic cartridge" sort of chap, but the 6.5 PRC is a genuinely innovative cartridge that delivers beyond the exceptionally little hype it's had. Great rifle and cartridge. Enjoy.

I was unfamiliar with the 1881 and had to look it up. Pretty awesome! Only 20,000 made in total, so yours is somewhat rare. Glad to see you you putting it through its paces. what a great piece of history.

Very nice. We have an unelectrified cabin up in VT and use an old fashioned ice box much like that, although somewhat more horizontally oriented. We use block ice, so drainage is critical. But once it gets cooled down, it's very effective. Cool project.

Well, Win 296 is not a powder suited to SAAMI spec loads in 45 Colt, nor is it a powder that should downloaded below published data.

I use HS-6 for 45 Colt but there are a number of good powders that will work well. The challenge may be finding pistol powders in light of the recent surge/panic.

The pressure vessel in a revolver is the cylinder. The manufacturer, presumably one of the Italians, proofs the cylinders under CIP protocol. Any data published in a credible manual and NOT marked as "Ruger Only" or the like is within SAAMI spec. Also, lead bullets are slightly lower pressure than jacketed bullets in any event. What powders do you have?
