Re: The Original Stalking Rifles!

This morning I stopped by my local trading post to pick up a few pair of Carhart jeans. No jeans in my size. They had a nice old Winchester 94 with 26-inch barrel in 38-55. Somebody attempted a rebluing job and failed miserably! It had the Win. logo on the tang, so pre-1940. Ser.# was just over 1 mi...

I'm very comfortable with a pump action shotgun next to my nightstand. I also have my Colt 1911 in the nightstand drawer.
Around here it's critters with 4 legs more that the two-legged type that go bump in the night.

These days a good quality beer in moderation is about it for me! 5 or 6 pints of Guinness is all I need on a weekend evening! When I was younger, I've overindulged quite a bit. The rarity of the pre 64 Winchester these days is one reason I personally shoot the later AE models, along with my 40+ year old Marlins. You just don't see many pre 64 for sale anymore! When you do the prices are crazy! I'll always take out the oldies a few times a year for some fun. Pre WW1 models ...

If it's a Winny, it has to have a half cock. Years ago, I had a color cased Winchester 94 in 45 Colt. It had that dang rebounding hammer and the tang safety. My local shop had a 92 Rossi on the shelf last week. Stainless 92, pre safety in 45 Colt for $750.00! Condition was very good. One year ago, they were in the 400 range. Personally, I'll stick with Winchesters and Marlins. If Rossi 92 are that high, what will a pre safety Marlin or pre 64 Winchester ...
