Re: LUBRICATING JACKETED BULLETS
Wonder if the pressure would be lower with a lightly lubed bullet making for a lowered coefficient of friction. Not as much resistance pushing the bullet down the bore giving a bit higher rate of acceleration. Higher velocities with lower pressures?

Re: LUBRICATING JACKETED BULLETS
Just a thought. Would the increase in velocity be accompanied with a decrease in pressures, or is max pressure occuring before the bullet even leaves the cylinder?

Re: LUBRICATING JACKETED BULLETS
I have taken thinned Lee Liquid Alox (LLA) for use with homogenous solids. Thin it about 10-1, mineral spirits to LLA. I do lots of cast boolits that way if I am going to run them thru a lubrisizer as it makes them go thru the lubrisizer so much easier if I have to size them down more than .001"...

Re: Old Caliber Gets A New Look
IIRC,blow out the neck of a 284 Win and make a fairly straight walled case and you pretty well have a rimless 45-70. Or better yet (and cheaper) maybe a barrel chambered in 45 Raptor or just a plain 458 Socom. Brass and dies and barrels already out for that one. Pretty well a rimless 45-70 it seems ...

Friend went thru a F5, or should I say, left his house 3 min. before it hit. His mother-in-laws house down the road only had the foundation left, even took off the linoleum on the floor. His house had two walls left and his daughters car was thru the front door

Think the news said that it wouldn't be the first time the ship has had issues with propulsion. Reported 6 missing (road crew fixing potholes in the road) but sonar shows cars also on the bottom, so it will surely rise.

I use some wire strippers and just put the round in the shellholder and raise the ram to where I can grip the bullet just above the case mouth and lower the ram. Bullet gets marks on it, but I use them for fireforming.

A 338-284 would be fairly equivalent to the 338-06, but with 284 cases hard to come by, the 338-06 would be my first choice. Speaking of the 284 win, its case dimensions are really close to the 338ME which shows the 338me as being .006" larger at the base. You might be able to use less than ful...

Probably the Marlin 1895 or the Winchester 1886. The 338 ME, if you open the neck to 45 cal. is essencially a shortened 45-70, with a different rim and probably thicker brass to handle the pressure.
Always wondered what the performance would be if necked to 7mm. Probably like a 280 Rem.

Got ahold of Marbles and asked about getting a replacement machine screw. It definitely isn't a #6 or a #4. Haven't measured the dia. no bigger than a #2 and a #1 wouldn't surprise me if its that small. Really need to get another rear sight as I don't care for the full buckhorn. Semi-buckhorn would ...

Re: Ok so, lever actions in 50AE
If you had a 44 mag Marlin, you could check and see if the 50 ae round would fit in the mag tube. If not, then you would probably have to go the 336 route and I think of the 336-44 guns and IIRC, they had feeding issues with the short rounds. Then you would have to check barrel diameter at the chamb...

think the bow and arrow are a bit more complicated than the atlatl and the atlatl is so much larger than the bow/arrow, unless you talk of english longbows. An atlatl would be tough to use on horseback.

Grandad used to use a Win. mod. 42 for quail hunting when, he said, the 12ga was getting too easy. He also used to shoot crows out of his pecan tree with it and that durn tree had to be 150 ft tall, using 3" #4 shot. Still have a box or two of that stuff, has to be around 60 years old.
