Oh clearly they could hide a few SRs and tankers in the desert, and could easily surveil a lot of the western hemisphere from there. But covering Europe, the Middle East and Asia would require tanker support in those areas, and I doubt you can do THAT from Nevada. There's a reason the SRs had operat...

Served as a JAG at Beale AFB, CA from 68 to 72. It was my initial duty station, and I entered the base through a side gate that was pretty much in line with the departure end of the runway. I'd been in law school for 3 years and had never heard of the SR-71, but as soon as I got on the base one took...
