Re: When you want to read a little .....
Article makes a good point that taylors KO forumula refers to concussing elephant with head shots that miss the brain. The bigger the gun the longer they get knocked out even if the brain is missed and felt it happened often enough to correlate it to his formula. When the recent safari boom took off...

Id say they are ok overall or Aussies would stick with 1887 copies. When you need that much paperwork to own or move a gun any brands requiring constant warranty action lose popularity fast. I recall reading years ago chiappa's 1887 got rejected for that reason.Turk lever actions seem to be doing ok...

I think the best bullet for expansion in the .44 Special was made by Speer and is unfortunately discontinued. It was a half jacket bullet that weighed 225 grains with a very soft core and it was a great all-around bullet for the .44 Special. Today, I load a Keith SWC over 7.5 gr of Unique and I wou...

its interesting that expanding 38 special and 45acp options get quite a bit of airplay especially with the subsonic hunting guys but 44special and 45 colt not so much.

A lifetime ago I was into big game rifles. Owned a 375H&H and 416rigby CZ550 and a also short relationship with a 460wby MkV lazermark( too much abuse, sold about a box of ammo later). 357 and 44 mag from a lever is about my limit these days.

Jim larger stuff I would agree, actually agree in general .429 and .452 is a great start as it is. I find expanding JHP pretty good though subsonic on smaller/mid game, falls over a bit faster.

They are not high grade but usually functional. For user opinions search the Aussie forums enoughgun.com and Australian hunting net they got some good guys posting about them.

A friend today decided to run some of these through his Rossi 1892 20" barrel. The box says about 945fps from a pistol and youtube tests bear this out. Through the lever.... a bit more pop and blast then he expected and they blasted a jug setup pretty good. So he ran them through the chrony, 13...
