Id say they are ok overall or Aussies would stick with 1887 copies. When you need that much paperwork to own or move a gun any brands requiring constant warranty action lose popularity fast. I recall reading years ago chiappa's 1887 got rejected for that reason.Turk lever actions seem to be doing ok...

I think the best bullet for expansion in the .44 Special was made by Speer and is unfortunately discontinued. its interesting that expanding 38 special and 45acp options get quite a bit of airplay especially with the subsonic hunting guys but 44special and 45 colt not so much.

A lifetime ago I was into big game rifles. Owned a 375H&H and 416rigby CZ550 and a also short relationship with a 460wby MkV lazermark( too much abuse, sold about a box of ammo later). 357 and 44 mag from a lever is about my limit these days.

Didnt think of that, those Rem SJHP work well in 38 special as well. I am guessing they have gone the way of the dodo now though with remingtons demise.

Jim larger stuff I would agree, actually agree in general .429 and .452 is a great start as it is. I find expanding JHP pretty good though subsonic on smaller/mid game, falls over a bit faster.

It's Turkish either Adler, pardus or uzkun. Main export market is Aussies due to the pump Action restrictions..

I dont have any advice to give but I have to admit I like the idea. How practical it is one thing, but definetly has some cool factor attached. Like fellas running 230 grain pin bullets in 38 special or 700 grain in 500S&W. Why the heck not :)

They can deploy drone guns these days. Cops at various international summits use them to protect airspace apparently. I dont know the tech involved, i assume they jam the signal. Chiappa still makes 1892s' yes in various configurations, they even did a takedown. I cant speak to their 1892's quality, but I know in other models I was not happy with quality and wont buy them again.

Well the things you learn. Apparently a more common conversion is 50AE on a 94 action! Anyone run into one of these? Donor calibre is 44 mag as it has similar rim dimensions. Not chasing this calibre, just found it interesting.

Thanks fellas. Tutt, I considered the 475 LB but being this is for reduced loads Id like the least capacity possible. Thanks fellas. I am a 1 centrefire only guy these days but thinking 1 centefire 'with 1-2 identical backups' in the safe still keeps the philosophy intact. Thanks for the points too on those parts which do come in handy.

Scott, great story. I have nothing to compare but did know of a fella who once got treed by hogs . He left his firearm at the base of the tree and they had a chew on the stock and sling before they wandered off, I assume they could taste the sweat on it.

Good article Scott. I particulary like the bit about effective range. Most articles and google call it a 100 yard cartridge. I was talking to a sales guy at the LGS the other day who declared it was only a 50 yard cartridge(!) If you can find an accurate load it can do a lot better than that.
