Re: Whats wrong with HOrnady XTPs?
I shoot the 240gr. 44cal.xtp w/sabot in my 50cal. muzzleloader. The bullet has always performed great on deer. Being able to get them cheap is another plus,in my book.

Re: Crimping the .30-30 cartridge
Thanks for the input,I appreciate it.I think I'll pick up a Lee FCD and load some up to compare with my other reloads.I won't be doing any shooting until warmer weather gets here though.I have enough trouble trying to hold her steady when it's nice and warm outside.

Crimping the .30-30 cartridge
After reading the post on pointed bullets in tubular magazines,I came up with another question for those of you who reload for the old .30-30 win. Do you crimp the bullet in place for use in tubular magazines and have you ever had a bullet pushed back into the case due to recoil or spring pressure ?...

Re: OT- tagging deer
In NY State the carcass tag must be filled out immediately after the deer is killed but need not be attached to the carcass until you reach a point of transportation. We need to report all deer kills by phone or on the Internet.

This one is my favorite and she did very good during deer season.I'm still new to leverguns and I don't have any older models (yet). It's a Marlin 336c in 30-30 cal. with a 2-7 Nikon scope.

Re: How is your state doing ?
I live and hunt in an area of NY State that still has allot of dairy farms and lots of good deer food most of the year.We get heavy hunting pressure and around 85% of all our bucks get taken at 1 1/2 years of age in my area.Up in the Adirondacks it's a different story. The mature forests are not good...

Re: My First Levergun Deer
I'm in upstate NY, over next to Vermont, in the Adirondack foothills. In the area I hunt in about 85% of all our bucks get shot when they are only 1 1/2 years old.Mature bucks are far and few between.I'm still after a six pointer I saw twice before our gun season opened and if I can take him,he will ...

Re: My First Levergun Deer
Got a picture to go with my first post and I took another doe Thanksgiving morning while she layed in her bed.
She thought I would walk by without seeing her.I had one doe tag left and she made a bad mistake.

My First Levergun Deer
I'm new here and would like to say hello to everyone.I took my first levergun deer yesterday with my Marlin 336C 30-30. The deer is only a medium size doe, but man, what a hit I put on her.I reload my own ammo and was using a 150gr.Speer hot-core at about 2300fps @ the muzzle.I got a broadside double...
