I'm new here, but for what it's worth, I enjoy this site as it is. The main focus is lever guns, but I'm always interested in different things. I have learned about hunting in England, old fishing reels, missionary work in Africa, a kind of an eclectic mix of things. I enjoy my lever guns and this i...

Re: I quit procrastinating and ordered a "Black" rifle

My son-in-law has the S&W, it puts the bullets where they need to be. He hasn't had any problems with it. But when we go shoot, I like the original look. Mine is a clone of the Colt 604 model I built using all old Colt parts except for the lower receiver. Lower rec. is a modified Rock River Arms...

I shoot often, but no longer hunt around here. Growing up, I could hunt squirrel, dove, & nutria in basicly my backyard. But now my town of 2,500 has a population of over 40,000. I have $500,000 homes sitting in what used to ricefields.

It's a 1906, not like you can pick one up at Walmart. Unless you really need the cash, keep the gun. Clean it up and enjoy. If you have to reline it, it's not that expensive. A 1906 & Winchester model 61 is on my wish list.

My dad has the same problem with his Favorite. He has the 1894 version Favorite in .25 also. From what we found out on the internet, he could reline the barrel - about $200.00, and either replace the pivoting block & firing pin, or have the FP hole welded up and redrilled with a new FP. So he de...

Colt SAA caliber question

I know, not a lever gun question. But I'm sure somebody would know the answer. My dad owns a 1898? Colt SAA, serial number 178xxx, black gutta percha grips, fairly decent blueing, with about a (guessing about) 6" barrel. He says it is marked .38 Special on the barrel. Is that possible? Could he...

Anybody ever use this? Russian made 30-30 ammo, re-loadable brass. Might make good plinking ammo for those who don't reload. I've used Wolf in my Ar & Ak and not had a problem other than it seems dirtier than American made stuff. Probably find it cheaper at the gun show though. http://www.iammo....

Hello, new guy checking in with my new to me Winchester

Hello, after a couple of months lurking, I thought I'd say hello and post a pic of my only 94 so far. Never owned a lever gun before. Been more of a milsurp type. So I figured I'd remedy that. My dad has a 1892 that I always admired. So I picked this up about a week ago. 1957 '94 in 30-30. What got ...
