Henry vs Marlin drop at comb

It is time for a scope on everything forward mounted "scout scopes" will not work.

I have narrowed my choice for a 44 mag lever rifle down to the Henry Big Boy vs the Marlin 1894.

Can anybody tell me where to find info on the stock drop for each rifle?

I have been shooting a load of 22.0 grains H110 over a 300 grain XTP in my 45 Colt chambered Redhawk and Rossi 92 for years. It has never shown any signs of high pressure. I understand that the Marlin 1895 series of lever rifles is exceptionally strong and can take very high pressures .................... but what about the Henry and Rossi in the same caliber?

Can anybody point me to any strength testing done, especially on the Henry?

This probably goes along with two of the posts above ............... soak it in battery acid ..................... length of time varies by how badly it is rusted ................... rinse very thoroughly with water and then lightly oil ............... this has worked for me in the past for general ...

I love shooting ARs in several calibers ........... MIGHT even own one or even two.

However, if I had to take a rifle into combat I would much prefer a M1A or FAL ............. maybe even an AR10 variant but I have not tried those yet.

IF you can ever find some LilGun, that is THE powder for those heavy cast bullets in a 357. I use 15.0 gr. in mine, and they are very, very accurate. Pushes that 180 gr. cast bullet 1350 fps from my Blackhawk. I am looking .. HARD ............ what I am finding I don't like either ....................

As for Lil Gun ..... it just ain't gonna happen right now .................... I can't find it anywhere, not even at the Tulsa gun show last weekend. In fact, most powders are hard to find right now, or at least the ones I like.

I would stay away form the flex tips Ted as the penetration is unreliable, at least in Oklahoma Whitetails and hogs. Looks imposing, what is the rappel distance? I believe it is a little over 100 feet ................ it is the only way to reach my spot without hiking/ climbing over ten miles which is probably visited by humans less than once per year. I leave a few items there and they are undisturbed every time...
