Does the push button release mechanism only lock into one place or can it be used as a quick elevation adjustment? If it locks into any position I thought I might try one on my Mod 64 Win in 32WS for lever action silhouette shooting. If not I’ll just use what I have either a Williams FP or nice old ...

Man I feel for you Joe and hope something works out. My old 97 dodge is sitting now with only front brakes due to rusted out rear brake lines. Use alcohol or water base stains as oil based ones will not penetrate. There is always aquafortis also. Track of the wolf sells appropriate stains and finishes. Fibings leather dye works good also.

Re: New to me 1881 Marlin 40cal
I reamed the inside of the case necks today with a .406 reamer. Probably the reason the bore is so good because no one could find ammunition to fit it I would think if you’re getting .411 bullets to fit with no issues then it was likely reamed out at some time in its 100 plus years.

Good info guys. Yes I already have a 38-40 Lee FC die.I assume the crimp problems you guys are talking about is from a roll crimp that pooches the case mouth out and interferes with chambering . I have used a collet closer setup in my lathe that gives a very nice crimp.

Nice rifle. Does it have wide or narrow rifling grooves? I've built rifles with both and found that the wide groove rifling shoots better with a wide range of charges. Wide groove narrow land so hopefully not picky and shoots well. The last one I finished had the same style rifling in .40 cal and s...
