I put new stainless barrels on bolt action rifles part time. When a customer wants a finish similar to the factory finishes I have to bead blast them (glass bead) but for anyone who really wants a finish that won't shine or glare (hunting rifle) I use sand and get a little more aggressive. Win 92

Saw a deluxe with original bolt peep sell In Peterborough last year for 2500.00 (long tang) but the rifle condition was only 50% NRA condition as close as I could tell.

I bought a real clean one last year for 1000.00 I suppose Id do it again!!

That was a Browning Not a REAL one. Did see a local winny 71 in really nice shape go for 1200.00 though.

I had one of those side mounts. 20 years back.
I was looking through the peeps one day and forgot that it was there when I pulled the trigger. 30-30 was enough to cut me above the eye ouch!!

I have a Uberti 45-70 with the double set triggers and they are really nice!!. Winchester has brought back the BPCR in 45-70 as well though it s retail for 1800. This is the one I think is prettiest. The main reason for that is the fact that I made it myself from scratch out in the garage. Actually I made 4 of them so far. Make sure you hold the gun you want to purchase in your hands.
I've seen some that were a little too rough for my liking and others that were good (not great)
This suggests quality control is somewhat inconsistent.
Otherwise they would make a great predator rig for calling!!

Alloy was about 7 on the saeco scale,wheel weights mixed with lead shot and leadless solder added to harden it a touch. bullets were put through a RCBS lubsizer with a homemade die making them.4585 in dia. Had a buddy loading shotshells one time on a progressive loader (Pacific 12 ga) shells were dropping through the hole into a bushell basket and one lit up. A small bit of stuff had to be removed from his leg, Brass I recall. He stopped the two foot drop after that and had no more problems. Win92

I have cast the 405HB Lee bullet and used it in My 1895 (1972) Marlin and it borders on too long when crimped in the proper position. Could be just my rifle although it shoots well.
I file the sprue flat and check the overall length to insure they will feed.

A nice EG. Look on the projection that the lever pivots on and find a small oval with a number and letter, an example would be 12D. This letter will tell you when the rifle was assembled. My guess is it's going to be a D which would put it circa 1952. JDL Oval says 19F as far as I can see Any ideas...

I bought my first centerfire in 1974 A win 94 in 30-30 and I remember trying to decide then between the 32 and 30.
Now after approx 160 guns I finally bought a 32win special. I plan to shoot it only with cast bullets.

Trying Hard to keep the Economy Going

These things followed me home Last Friday.
Top is a 32 Win Special 1957 bottom is a 30-30 1958. The 32 Special is close to perfect condition wise the pics don't do it justice. Saw them together on the shelf c/w Lyman 66's and had to have them you guys know how it goes.
