Re: My love of Marlin Cowboy model lever guns
My only regret was not buying a 30-30 cowboy when they were available, but I already had a 30-30 so.....but I kinda wanted it, and figured maybe next year..there was no next year. It took me a couple of years at least to find mine. It's not 100% mint but it's got some honest wear. The bluing ...

My love of Marlin Cowboy model lever guns
Back in the mid 2000s when I was in my early 20's and just got into guns, I loved all things tactical, Glocks, Sigs, pictatinny rails and lights and lasers and synthetic stocks and whatnot. Any little money that I had went into that. I didn't like anything with wood on it. Too old fashioned for me. ...

Does anybody have real-world experience running lots of .357 mag through an 1873?
Okay here goes... I have been lusting after a Miroku 1873 .357 mag for a couple of years now. I have not pulled the trigger because I fear that the "toggle link" design will not last long with standard, off the shelf .357 magnum ammo through it. I've heard everything from, "Oh it'll h...

Anybody here still drive a stick shift?
Some of the "tactical" guys I know from the local gun community wrinkle their nose at me when I tell them how much i love handgun-caliber lever-actions when they like their semi auto AR15s and whatnot. Nothing against the semi auto, I have a few, especially Glocks and other handguns...but ...

Silly question...people say 45 Colt lever guns aren't as strong because of the thinner chamber, but...
But does that mean .44 is weaker than the smaller .357 which has more metal in the chamber?
Silly question, I know.

Re: MARLIN COWBOY MODEL PRODUCTION
I just see the 1894 CB listed in .45 colt and .44 mag on their website. .357 to my knowledge is not in production yet. I think they still have to work out the kinks of the .357 model. Still, it would be nice for them to hurry the hell up and make it!

Marlin 1894 cowboy. A gun I liked so much I bought it 4x!
Canadian here so some of the prices are much more substantial than most of you are used to paying, and availability is also quite hindered. Started off as a tactical handgun guy when I was in college many years ago, coming from a population-dense urban area. My early twenties mind could think of no ...

Re: Too nice to shoot?
I've purchased guns from people who have said they're "too nice to shoot". Then I shot them.
I just recently paid a little more over value for a Marlin 1894 Cowboy Limited 24-inch barrel in 44 mag. The bolt didn't even have the wear from cycling they get so quickly. I fixed that, lol.

Re: Visiting Nurse asked if we own firearms
I'm not a nurse but I do intakes with people and I am obligated to ask them questions that I feel are too personal sometimes. Often times I hope they just say, "prefer not to answer," so i can move on. I bet she just says it automatically. She probably HAS to ask. Just say, "I prefer ...

Took the lever guns to the range
Took a couple of levers to the range the other day, with my girlfriend. She's a new shooter and I'm just getting her used to shooting and how the guns work, safety, etc. She really likes my Winchester/Miroku 1892 in .44 rem mag. Brought that and my 1894 Cowboy Competition .45 LC color case hardened....

Re: I'm gaining a lot of respect for the .45 Colt
While I have only a little experience with the .45 Colt, mostly in a Ruger Blackhawk, I am a fan of it with 300 grain bullets moving at a modest velocity. They punch deep into whatever they hit. I have also used 325 grain bullets in it. They go through every animal I have shot with them. Not one re...

I'm gaining a lot of respect for the .45 Colt
Even though I do call it the .45 Long Colt!  I impulse purchased a Marlin 1894 Cowboy Competition in .45 LC for a darn good price. After seeing posted velocities online and muzzle energies compared to .44 rem mag, .45 LC seems very lackluster. But there is definitely more to the stor...

Re: If You THINK Your Guns Are CLEAN...
My buddy is a clean freak with his guns. He will fire one shot from his .22LR rifle on his farm and then clean the gun!
The other day I took my 870 Police and 590A1 out of the safe and cleaned out the barrels...I swear it was like a bacteria colony up in those barrels.

Re: One of my Marlins is a picky eater, the other eats anyth
Could be just a simple matter of wrong/ odd angles on lifter. Could replace the fussy lifter and have your smith shape and polish it the same as your cowboy gun. My Henry isn't fond of slow in vertical but works fine slow at horizontal. Don't have a lot of ammo thru it yet so still feeling it out t...

One of my Marlins is a picky eater, the other eats anything.
Is this just something I'll need to accept? My 1894 Cowboy Limited has been worked over by a local gunsmith and it is smooth as butter, will feed anything in any which way seemingly. My 1894C which went to the same smith was a bit of a rescue because it had been screwed up by the previous owner. Too...

Re: Lots of Lever Action Rifles in 44 Mag.
10 rounds on tap, +1 in the chamber, in a lightweight rifle with a 20" barrel. 44 loads can be loaded pretty stout. The guns are plain FUN to shoot. I love taking my Winchester .44's out. I have a swinging target where if you hit it dead-on with a .22 rifle, it will make one full revolution. If...

Re: Has anybody gone back to the 2-piece firing pin on a Mar
I got my gun today. Really beautiful piece of shooting iron. Sadly, it seems the gun can drop its trigger while the lever is partially open and the action is slightly open. Doesn't need to be in full lockup to fire, it seems. I wonder if this is the trigger safety disabled too or some expensive fix...

Has anybody gone back to the 2-piece firing pin on a Marlin?
Hi all! New user here saying hello. I love lever actions but I do not shoot CAS, I just like to take 'em into the woods and shoot standard power loads through them. I have 2 Miroku/Winchester 1892 short rifles in .44 rem mag, a Marlin 1894 Cowboy Limited in .357 and a JM 1894C .357 Marlin on its way...
