Re: S&W Lever gun
All I see is another big loop lever gun with a cross bolt safety and an ugly front sight. It looks like a knock-off Marlin. I would hope that it's a slick and high quality gun but if I wanted another lever action I'd just pick a used 336 off the rack at the LGS.

Re: Having a sixgun "Goonerized"
Goon has done three guns for me and I have two more being done presently. They have come back smoother than a 1960s S&W. One of the guns I had him do was my Tom Ball accurized R&S and as any skirmisher knows a Ball rework was the pinnacle of competition guns while Tom was alive (still are). ...

If it were a very collectable gun or one with a mint bore I would go with pure lead and a good lube (SPG). For anything somewhat less than that I use dug range lead which seems to run between Brinell 7 and 9. Actually the harder lead probably wouldn't hurt at all, it's just that I can't bring myself...

Mike, Goon's Gun Works, has my Pietta Patterson from the 90s to rework. This revolver has had a myriad of problems since it came out of the box and I've never shot it. I told him to give it the full works and we'll see how it works when I get it back. He did a Walker for me, oval bolt stops, no lead...

1971, I was shop foreman for a motorcycle/snowmobile dealer. I took a number of batteries, stacked them out back of the shop and lit a fire (they were plastic even back then). Hoyt does cartridge guns too and his prices are better than the one quoted above. Work is first class. He lined a damascus 12 gauge double for me a few years back for $250 for both barrels with chokes. He has done 6 barrels for me, 4 of which are muzzleloaders and he had to lengthen 2 of those.

It aids concealability too, with that C clamp on it I could throw it in my tool box and nobody would ever know. At the range I could just mount a vise on my bench and have a dual purpose devise; a clamp for the seal and a "Ranson" rest for the revolver. Someone must have really spent a lot...

I would think it would be no different from zeroing a vintage 94 with a side mounted scope. The only actual concern is the location of the muzzle at the exact instant the bullet exits. Given the distance between the sights and the muzzle the line of sight and the bullet's path would be converging up...
