I don't think you could go wrong with a JM Marlin 1894 in 357! Be prepared to pay over 1,000.00 to 1,200.00 for a pre safety in very good or better condition! Yes, they've went through the roof. There's a 357 1894CP on Gunbroker now sitting about about $1,200, but that factory ported gun was only p...

You said "Not looking for exotic calibers or hard to find shells" , which from what I've seen, quickly eliminates any Drillings under $2.5k and easily puts you in the $3k to $5k range for a nice Sauer in 12 x 12 over 222 Remington (that's the one I WANT -- but cannot afford). Depending on...

I've owned a few over the years. They're not really my thing for hunting, but there is a pride in ownership of having a well built drilling. Japan (at least post war) has a reputation of building some great quality guns. Brazil is generally thought of a lower quality stuff. Of course that's not always the case either way, but the general preception is there. I've had my share of lower quality South American guns over the years.

Well, the .30 carbine has a flatter trajectory. And in the video he mentions using some of the same equipment to make .30 carbine ammo. Not sure what it would be. And lastly I think a .45 acp carbine would have weighed more than the 5 lbs desired. I agree that the 30 carbine was a superior choice f...

I'd wanted Ruger to come out with a GP100 44 special for years, but when S&W came out with five shot 44 magnum 69, I didn't have any more desire for the GP100. The 69 makes a great 44 special gun, but you've got the flexibility of 44 magnums as well.

2.75" and 3.5" from a rest at 15 yards is terrible accuracy from that S&W Backpacker. I'm also not to sure about his comment that "it is difficult to get the same type of accuracy with plain lead as you do jacketed bullets". I'm a 44 special fan though. I use my 2 3/4" S...
