Re: Modern mountain man choices...

I don't see how you could go wrong with one of those Savage 12 ga/30-30 over and under combo guns. If I felt like I could get away having more than gun, it would be an 870 or M12 12 gauge pump (have interchangeable chokes installed in the M12), a Winchester 71 in .348 and a Super Blackhawk in .44 ma...

You should sell the 92, but only if you're going to sell it to me for 50 bucks. :D If you don't want to sell the 92 to me, sell the Browning. I agree with Rangerider7. No new gun (short of a Cooper, G&H, H&H, etc.) could compare to a pre-'64 Winchester in good shape.

A Model 29 with years of honest wear is truly something to be proud of :D Kind of....refreshing to see one that's used for more than taking the occasional deer and perforating coffee cans. I just picked up my first centerfire handgun, a Ruger SP101 357 Mag with a 3" barrel. It's concealable but...

357 Magnum vs 327 Federal

I've started to move away from the Ruger LCR and started looking at the SP101 357 Mag as my first carry gun. It's heavier and kicks harder, but it fills my hand better and..... well it's a 357 Mag. The new question is about the .327 Federal. The Fed allows one more round in the cylinder but the heav...

Proper levergun shooting form

I'd imagine most all of us have heard that rifles with two piece stocks shoot more consistently when the forearm is firmly grasped. Yeah, now that I know what I know about the carrier, it has to be the cartridge stop. Like the name of the thread says, I definately like the 94, so don't get me wrong on that one. But I have to admit, the 92 is better looking and smoother cycling. I just wonder why Browning saw it fit to design a whole new rifle rather than change the scale of an existing model.

I understand that the toggle-link mechanism of earlier Winchesters was too weak for the smokeless propellent used in the 30-30, but I don't see why Winchester ( J. M.
