Ya, Iowa is a slug gun state although it does have a special January "antlerless only" rifle season in the southern part of the state. For awhile, in Indiana, you could hunt with only shotgun or handgun or muzzleloader, and a 44 Mag rifle was considered 'marginal if not inadequate in powe...

Off work for about a month due to a sprained and bruised knee. I think it would be fun to live in a place where you can use whatever firearm/cartridge you want to hunt with. I don't feel I need the power of my .375 Winchester, or .444 Marlin, or even .375 Ruger, for whitetail, but they are all good, accurate guns that deserve some time afield, and I can't affo...

EGGS make good targets, too. We have chickens, and since the guvment says we can't sell them at farmer's markets any more without a guvment-approved 'electric egg cooler', we just give them to friends or shoot them for target practice. Mother Nature recycles them. Sell them out of your garage for a...

I'm not arguing with the chart as I have no experience with the .458 (.416 Rigby, etc, what have you) - types, but was surprised the 12 gauge topped those African big game thumpers. My 12, while a very "healthy" kick, doesn't seem so earthshaking. I've shot my friend's .375 H&H a fair...
