Hello all. It's been a while

It has been a long time since I've posted on this site. Many things have transpired in that time. So. I am in need for some time off. I planned for some vacation time for the week of Thanksgiving. I need a little "me" trip in the form of a good hunt. Ideas on where to go for that week have...

A question regarding firearms for training.

I'd like to query the esteemed members of this board in regards to handgun training and firearms. I know the standard reply in regards to the best firearm for a beginner is a good target grade 22lr such as Ruger or the new Smith and Wesson Victory model. I understand the logic of this choice as it i...

Not lever gun related but I did hunt last night

I was in my treestand for Connecticut archery season for a late afternoon hunt. The spot has some promise as deer had been seen on my trail camera. So I went there and sat for some time. The wind was somewhat erratic and I was unsure of the direction. According to Weather Underground the wind would ...

I'd have to vote for the Marlin 30-30 lever action rifle in this situation. I believe under the circumstances you have described the gun would be more versatile for a three month sojourn, so to speak. Judging from what you have described it sounds like the situation is in the mid south. Being more h...

Not lever gun related but new " shoes" for the Ruger

I was planning to head out with my Ruger SS Hunter in 17 HMR for some predator hunting. Although I love the gun one issue that plagues me is that the grips from the factory are a wood laminate. They are smooth and slippery. So in wet weather or when you wear wool gloves it is a pain to hold with any...

Good.

In 2007 the state of Connecticut had 127,000 deer. Now it has around 60,000. One biologist claims it is due to bobcat and coyotes. I also suspect other factors but the fewer coyotes the better.
