I won one from GUNS magazine back when they were imported by Charles Daly. I never really liked it that much but it only cost me transfer fee and income tax. And it's not eating anything unless I feed it ammo.

Re: Winchester 64 manufactured in 1941
Back around 1959 in Wisconsin I and my dad were deer hunting. I met a local farmer in the woods that missed a big buck and he blamed his rifle, a model 64 in .32 special. My dad bought it from him on the spot, in the woods. We drove him about 3 miles to his house so he could pick up a shotgun to fi...

Yes, questions of that nature are rude. You are not geezerly for thinking so, unless I'm a geezer at 44. I was raised in the rural Southeast where rich, poor, middle class, white and black all lived as neighbors. Most people are taught not to pry into a person's assets. I remember being grown and sh...

I know that the writer, Mike Venturino, uses cast bullets in both 38-40 and 40 s&w. Probably what is most important is finding a place on the bullet for a taper crimp while keeping the correct OAL.

I don't think there is any difference as far as strength is concerned. I believe the 338 is made on the 444/1895 frame, which is a 336 with bigger ports for loading and ejecting. Others here will be more certain. I'm telling you what I think I remember reading somewhere.

The jacket and heavy weight combined with the low velocity, tight bore and long barrel set up the stuck bullet scenario. I prefer soft lead for the real slow movers for that reason. FWIW I have seen an empty quart plastic oil bottle stop a 38 S&W round. Can't believe this was a self defense/poli...
