Re: .357 companion.

There were plenty of Double actions produced during the 92 Winchester production period. Some even before like my first model DA 44.

I have a pair of Vaqueros but I prefer double actions for general use. With autos, I'm the opposite, so far.

Re: Chamber and barrel inserts

I saw some long 22 inserts for rifles on the Alaskan site. That looks like it might work providing you index it repeatedly as you have observed. Bore dimensions of rifles are much more consistent and that provides support for the tube. And the sights on those rifles are incredibly precise whether op...

Re: .357 companion.

Are those actual clocked velocities? You can't rely on published data with greatly reduced barrel lengths. If so I stand corrected. Your Ruger is handily beating a full size 9. I don't see twice of anything though except maybe recoil and noise. Your load from your Ruger is still comparable to 40 per...

Re: .357 companion.

Depends on your taste and uses. I have a six inch S&W 586. It's easy to shoot well and is crazy accurate, but it's really too long and heavy to carry holstered very long. A four inch would be better. I think snub noses are too short to benefit the 357 (makes it a loud, fiery, hard kicking 9mm). ...

Re: Chamber and barrel inserts

The more I read and think about it, I'm leaning towards not getting an adapter. It seems like good handgun level accuracy at best at ranges that can be handled with shot. I can use a handgun, even a very small inaccurate one, for the situations I mentioned. For $70 to $120, I don't think it's worth ...

Re: Chamber and barrel inserts

I see inserts ranging from chamber length up to 18 inches. Some of the short ones aren't even rifled. I'm thinking the middle ground is probably the most practical. A five to seven inch rifled insert for handgun ammo is what I am thinking. I don't think the accuracy is there for long range, even if ...

Perswan, have you called Ruger? If they still have bands in stock, they will be cheap. Wouldn't be surprised if they just mailed you one at no charge. Don't know if the bands are identical to those of the 10/22. If so, they probably have at least a pickup bed full of them.

The serial number should be on the receiver. However, it has to be a very modern FN made M70. Parts are made in South Carolina and shipped to Portugal in the last few years.

I haven't seen one assembled in Portugal, but the SC completely made ones seem to be very high quality.

I didn't say Henry was a cheesy brand as a whole. But their making of rifles without loading gates is a marketing ploy, i.e. Branding, to associate their company with the 1860 rifle.
