Re: Looking for a barrel for a Rossi .357 levergun
I understand. I have a full length 45 Rossi and it seems unwieldy to me although it points and holds very well. I imagine the 36 bore is that much worse. I’ve thought of shortening it but I have a standard Marlin 44 so I haven’t. If I get a 357 I want a 16 or 18 1/2 inch for a utility(be there) gun.

I think you did alright on the CLs. That’s a popular bullet in a popular caliber and weight. You can always sell or trade to get something else. Pretty good hunting bullet too.
The lighter ones will probably do well in the blackout or any 30 for varmints and such. It is not a deer bullet though.

You used to find these loaded in 308 and 30-06 anywhere ammo was sold. I see them as best for those two cartridges and those of similar speed for deer size game. Would probably be fine in 30-30 at closer ranges. Idk about 300 blk. The 130s are varmint bullets. Probably work well for practice and pes...

Just get it and worry about feeding it later. I got a 444 in this drought and a member posted cases for sale. Another posted a bunch of bullets. Dies are available. You don’t have to do everything at once and the rifle is the most limited factor in this.

I don’t see why Cowboy Special wouldn’t chamber and fire just fine at proper 45 ACP length headspaced on the mouth. Not sure why anyone would want to with ACP brass being much more available and auto rim brass being a superior option.

Re: Reloading Info for a specific Hornady bullet
Short story is pointy bullets are longer than blunt bullets within a certain weight range. overall length will be longer in standard cases. If you deep seat the bullets to get within overall length with the pointy bullets pressure will rise. The bullets were designed to be used in shorter cases and ...

As a kid around 11 or so, I saw my daddy take a shot at at pigeon sitting on top of a tobacco barn with an Undercover . I’m guessing at least 40 but probably closer to 50 yards. If I got an invitation to an elk hunt, a 357 rifle would be near the end of the list of arms I would chose. Those prices aren’t relative to anything. A Ruger produced Marlin not worth $2000, or even $1500. You can get a Colt Python or Anaconda for $1500. Or a Supergrade M70. Or a high end Kimber bolt rifle or 1911. Ridiculous is right

No the 30-06 was replaced by 7.62x51/308 Winchester for services rifles and machine guns long ago. It had a good run though from 1906 to the Vietnam era.

A 3 to 4 inch barrel on whichever frame size suits you. I like S&W but am open to Colt, Kimber, and Ruger too. A 3 to 3 1/2 inch J frame or SP101 would be very handy and versatile. A larger frame gives you more shots than five if that’s important to you.

Honestly if you have a rifle configuration the rebore is the best and most economical way to go. JES has a very good national reputation. I have the stocks and mag off. The hanger is empty on the right. I should have some 6-48 screws tucked away somewhere to try. I’d rather have something in there. The hanger isn’t very tight in the dovetail. It seems cinching down on just one side wouldn’t be a good idea

This summer I bought a Marlin 444 with a missing for-end cap screw. I think at some point in velocity and rotational force an unjacketed bullet may come apart in flight. I have read of this in very frangible varmints bullets at very high velocity. I think it's worth a try in your carbine though. I don't have high hopes in something like a 3006

I don't see why it wouldn't work. A reduced load with trail boss in say a 30/30 or 308 might be interesting to pop off for a while. Like a cobbled up 22 mag in your deer rifle
