What about the .376 Steyr as is used in the Dragoon version of the Scout. If not that, then the .375 H&H, or the .375 Ackley Improved, or a 9.3 x whatever is most common in Africa. Doesn't the Ackley Improved still fire the parent cartridge? If so, then it would be a good possible choice.

I am starting to save for a trip to Africa in 2 or 3 years. I plan on taking my 1895GS .45-70 and a Rem. 700 in .30-06. From Joe's information, those two rifles with the suggested loads should work better than I can shoot. Now it just will take some practice.

What I am waiting on is to find oud if CPS loses in court and if they then follow court orders. I am not going to hold my breath for it. Next, will the original caller be prosecuted, or will the state law be ignored. Texas has a law that a fraudulent call to CPS is a felony. I think I will just wait.

The .480 was my 3rd foray into reloading. I started with a .45lc, then a .30-30. I like the .480 because it gets the job done. It is not as powerful as a .45-70, but with 400 grain bullets it is pretty useful. Whatever you get, I hope you have fun with it.
