Re: Decisions. 45 colt or 45-70?

I once had a Marlin 1895 big loop guide gun in 45-70. My only mistake was selling it. It was my most favorite rifle. It really liked the Winchester 300 grain hollow points. Accurate. Destroyed targets. Never hunted with it. My favorite targets were watermelons (my dogs and wildlife always enjoyed cl...

Re: Decisions. 45 colt or 45-70?

I have a Rossi 357 rifle. Hated it when I first shot it. After Stevie's guns slick up kit, I love it. But I won't buy another Rossi product. Never shot a 45 colt rifle. Had a Marlin 1895 guide gun big loop in 45-70. Should have never sold it. I'll probably just get another one. It was my most favori...

Re: Decisions. 45 colt or 45-70?

Maybe a levergun in .454 Casull would be a useful compromise. It would share .45 Colt ammo with the revolver for many purposes, but approach 45-70 ballistics with 300 grain and heavier bullets in .454 loadings. Jack Thought about that. The only 454 rifle I've found is made by Rossi. Don't want anot...

Re: Decisions. 45 colt or 45-70?

My FAL is Enterprise. It was built during ban era. It's a parts gun that is not worth as much. I don't think anyone would pay $1000 for it. I am learning to reload. So far just handgun calibers. Maybe that why I have been leaning towards 45 colt levergun. I had a Marlin 1895 big loop guide gun in 45...

Decisions. 45 colt or 45-70?

After I sell my FN FAL I can buy another lever gun. My difficulty is in deciding whether to get one in 45 colt to go with my three 45 colt revolvers or 45-70 just because it's such an awesome caliber. Although 45-70 Ammo is so expensive. What do you think?

I just sent message to Stevs on his site. Maybe he has screw. I think I asked him about a year ago. But I'm not sure about that. Thanks.

Re: 45 colt revolver vs carbine

I have a Rossi 92 in 357. Now, I love it. When I first got it it would not cycle. Used kit from Steve's guns. It's awesome now. Now warranty over and Lost a screw. Rossi won't sell me one. They want me to return gun. They must really want to force that labor cost on me. So, I doubt I would ever be w...

45 colt revolver vs carbine

Does anyone know of any articles on 45 colt comparing revolver to carbine? Especially using Ruger only loads. Ballistics? Velocity? Pressure? Thinking about adding 45 colt carbine to compliment my Blackhawk in 45 colt.
Thanks.

Can you get hi cap magazines for browning BLR?

I just read about the browning BLR lever gun. Does anyone know if they make high capacity magazines for the BLR?

Thanks

The .300 Blackout was developed to be a 7.62x39 equivalent for the AR type rifle.
Not 30-30 or 357. Different calibers. Not what I'm looking for.

Re: want semi auto but like my 30-30

None in .30-30 that I know of. The rimmed cartridge is an issue (which is why the Model 8 Remington used a rimless equivalent to the .30-30, for example). It is possible to do it, there were semi-autos built for some rimmed cartridges, but the most common (better) solution has been to develop a rim...

want semi auto but like my 30-30

I love my 357 Winchester 92, 30-30 Winchester 94 and 45-70 Marlin 1895. I would like a semi auto carbine or rifle. But I don't want to get a new or different caliber. Is there a semi auto long gun in 30-30? It would be even better if it used a detachable magazine. And no, I am not looking for a semi...

Deer blind camo paint color

I am building wooden deer blind and want to paint it camo. Paint it a basic lighter colored green maybe? Then rattle can darker green, brown, gray, and black over leaves I pick up off the ground. That sound about right? I'm wondering what colors would work best, especially the base color of what I th...

problems with 357 Rossi 92

I recently bought a Rossi 357 model 92. I really enjoy shooting this rifle more than any other I have ever had. When it feeds properly. It feeds Remington and Hornady hollow-points fine. That is great because if I keep it, it will be a defensive weapon kept in car trunk. (I had an AR. Didn't care fo...

Possible missing screw

My Rossi 357 levergun seems to be missing a screw. I took it to a very experienced parts store. He said no screw goes there and that owners manual is wrong. He show me how an older winchester has no screw there and explained it is a hole to remove a pin. The owners manual say there is a screw there....

Steve's DVD and action job kit

I am going to order the DVD and action job kit from Steve's guns for my 357.

I also have the Rossi 454 levergun on back order right now. Can't wait to get it. Could it benefit from the action job kit also? I plan to shoot both 454 and 45 colt in it.

Thanks for your help in advance.

i just discovered my fascination with lever guns

I had a Winchester 30-30. Ammo cost kept me from shooting it much. Handgun ammo was so much cheaper. Then I bought a Rossi 357 levergun. Wow!! I love this gun!! (don't tell my wife) Sold my AR and 7 mag rifles. They just are not as fun. I never shot them much any way. I usuallly brought out my handg...
