I did not know that, one of the guys I'm working with is a big fan of The Milagro Beanfield War, I'll tell him that. I had figured they used a town or set closer to Santa Fe like most of the others seem to do.

I kind of liked the book better, but both are worth the time to watch/read.

How big around is the tree? Small trees do not yeild good lumber, big ones do.

A lot of the Claro walnut I've worked is softer than cherry. It may be more prone to splitting than that walnut though. Black walnut is noticeably harder than both. I have a 1908 VH 20 gauge.

Dad got it cheap due to a cracked stock after gunsmith school and made a new stock from birdseye maple he fished out of a pulp bog in Maine. I used to post pictures of it on the web now and then, just to horrify the purists :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

Its just what you're used to, nothing more. Don't know about magnums, never owned one. But practice a lot with a 30-06 or 8mm Mauser and in a few months it won't be any big deal.... just watch that thumb :lol:

One word of caution with oven cleaner and bleach - rinse very, very well in between. Oven cleaner is a strong base and should react with bleach in the same way as ammonia does - by liberating chlorine gas.

Stock looks great, I never would have guessed it would clean up so well.

I'm with Grizz, the notion that linux is hard to install is easily a decade old. You can download and burn a liveCD (or DVD) that allows you to try out the distribution without making permanent changes to your machine. There is an "install" icon on the desktop of the temporary linux system...
