Re: 1886 .45-70 to .50-110
Mike Hunter restorations did my 50-100-450 conversion work. The carrier needs work (50-110 is longer so the carrier needs modified to accept it). The frame actually has to be modified to accept the longer cartridge going through the loading gate. WELL WORTH THE EFFORT IN MY OPINION.

This was Rebored with a .375 reamer so I tried .376,377, and 378 but 377 was more consistent. I actually enjoy the Marlin the most as I use 10 grains of Unique in it and it is nice to shoot. Wind suggested that load to me.

I tied the much touted Unique loads and blech. No bueno. So I tried the 3031. I still want to see about a load with 5744 but I need more bullets. Fred I have a Winchester rifle, this carbine, a 1893, and a Marlin in 375 Winchester.

Thanks Jay. I hit on the 31.5 grain load yesterday but to be sure I backed it up today. I shot them ladder style so each shot on an individual target was actually the third shot since last shot at that target. My 1894 rifle prefers 32.0 grains of 3031.
