Need Help. 1892 Marlin .32 rimfire

A friend of mine just bought an 1892 Marlin in .32 rimfire at an estate sale. He knows very little about firearms. No one can locate any ammo for this rifle. I found some really old stuff for about $80.00 a box and several single rounds on GunBroker for about $10.00 a piece! I told him he should giv...

High 86er. I live in Columbia, SC and everything around here is tied up in "membership waiting" status. These clubs only want so many members and you have to be invited to join. Most cost several $ thousand a year to join. My sister lives in Melbourne, Fl and I visit her often. How far awa...

Re: Does Lasik eye surgery improve shooting with iron sights?

I read an article the other day written by a fellow who was an expert marksman as well as an MD.( I'll see if I can link to it) And it was his opinion that Lasik surgery does NOT assist those who participate in rifle target shooting sports with iron sights. His article was rather technical in nature...

Re: Win 92 experts, what ya think?

I have an EMF 1892 carbine "Hartford" Model in .45colt. with a case hardened receiver. I got it about 4 years ago and it was the last of the pre-safety models. I had it "smoothed over" by Nate Kiowa Jones. It is an excellent firearm in fit and finish. It is one of my favorite fir...

Buck, I was referring to the cat as Rooster's friend. (most pets are your friend and companion) I never brought up or mentioned the Chinese man. Who gives a rat about Chin Lee :?:

Re: You've got to be kitten me...

Rooster Cogburn, in True Grit had a cat and his friend went by the name of, General Sterling Price. So, there's proof that a real levergunner can still hang out with a cat. My cat reposed with me on the couch last night and watched the entire episode of 1969, True Grit. He says the film is purr-fect...

Re: Need Advice...Lost a friend

A lot of people choose to live like this. Sometimes this black sheep syndrome is driven by mental illness or even alcoholism. Your friend might be living at the YMCA or be living at a homeless shelter. I previously worked with transients and I knew a lot of homeless people. You would be surprised to...

Re: OT- Just got back from seeing "True Grit".

We have 4" of snow on the ground and everything is closed, so I downloaded the original 1969 True Grit and watched it today. I have been following most of the reviews and comments across the internet since True Grit was released shortly before Christmas. About 80% of the reviews by the professi...

Re: OT- Just got back from seeing "True Grit".

I went and saw True Grit last night with my wife. What is interesting is that we saw True Grit in 1969 together and it was our very first date! Times have changed and so have the movies. I know we all want to compare the old with the new, as it is a natural thing to do, however I don't think you do ...

Re: OT- Just got back from seeing "True Grit".

My wife and I saw this movie yesterday and enjoyed it very much. I love JW and think that with anyone else the original wouldn't have been that great. As mentioned by others, There is no way Rooster would have rode by a standing horse with the ride he had with that kind of weight to carry. Maybe I ...

.475 Turnbull??

I see where Doug Turnbull is advertising his "new".475 Turnbull cartridge. He says it is the best thing since sliced bread. What happened to the .475 Linebaugh? I thought this was the standard. Are these two different ammos? :?
