Is the gas plug tight? Was the claw looking section of extractor clean and appeared to look normal? Sometimes you get shavings from grabing the brass. That mark might indicate that. Yesterday bought a set of 2013 Nikon 12 X 50 50mm binoculars.
Heard that for 2013 they made added improvements.
What I can say is at 25ft focus crystal clear and at 100yds shooting .223 they are stunning for spotting. Had a hawk in a tree across gorge about 75 yds out watched him peck a bug.
