The "Broomhandle"? I'm an admirer. Almost bought one earlier this year on GunBroker.com. Glad I waited though - found the deal I had been looking for on my Browning 1886 SRC a couple months later, and wouldn't have had the funds for it had I bought the C96. Now you got me thinking about th...
So, Hobie - what's with the titles ("levergunner", "pilgrim"), and how does one add his picture to his name on the left hand side of a post? Not that any of you want to see my ugly mug, but it is kinda cool seeing who we're talking to!
What I do with my private property is one of them. Private property rights - the right to do with as you please that which belongs to you - is one of the most misunderstood, least applied, and from the left - vilified - of our basic liberties. Without it, our economy does not work, and our freedoms...
I have an old-model single six that is starting to go plum. Took me several years to find it at the price I wanted to pay. This one had the original box and spare clyinder in .22 magnum - in the little red felt bag. She's a keeper as she is!!!
Most of the Uberti parts will NOT fit the original. I know for a fact that the carriers will not interchange, nor will the barrel. On the other hand, Chaparral CLAIMS their parts will interchange with the original Winnie 73. I have not personally verified that. Might be worth a call to them to see....
I agree with OI. At the very least, attacking someone from behind with six to one odds, then stomping on him while he was unconscious is dishonorable and cowardly. I have no feeling but contempt for anyone who did this and I don't care what their race is. Cowards disgust me. If they had a true reaso...
rimrock - Yep, the gun control movement started as a way to deny firearms to freed slaves. As you can imagine the thought of thousands of armed folks rightfully holding something of a grudge didn't sit well with the folks in the south. Additionally, though liberals are apparently too dense to unders...
(man, ain't this forum great on the wallet!? Yessssss!) Lessee... a Chaparral "Winchester 1876", then a Winchester 1895 High Grade, and then a Browning 1886 SRC. This forum HURTS the ol' wallet!!! (but in a great way  ) There was a thread on the old forum about leather-wrapped lever...
Geez, I thought you were undressing a woman there! Opening up the box on your new Colt certainly comes in at a close second! I had to think about it, because the answer didn't come to mind, and then realized that almost everything I have in my collection is a "shooter" - and was a &...

Ysabel Kid, I posted pictures of it when I was making the safety filler. I did not have the sights or trigger parts installed yet. It just feels so much better.
Officially jealous it is! Congrats guys!!! :D Steve, had you brought that home, you'd be in trouble!!! You're supposed to be in the selling-mode, not the buying-mode! I know! But, if I could have gotten it for south of $350, I could have sold my other Mountie and it been a break-even deal. A...
I'm not saying this is all you can do, or that it will pay all the bills. What I am saying is that you are young, and now is the time to chase your dreams before life's responsibilities really weigh you down. I'm also saying that - from experience as I finish up my 20th year with the company I work ...
If that's the case, I have a rare NIB Ruger 10/22 that I will part with for $1000, if you ask really nice. Let me know so I can pick it up from Wally World before shipping it!
I just put a Marbles tang sight on my Chaparral 1876 in .45-60 WCF, which I purchased from a fellow forum member. I have not had a chance to shoot it yet with the new tang sight on, but it looks like it is going to be a VAST improvement over the factory sights (it's amazing anyone hit anything with ...
Cimarron's an importer, so which Italian manufacturer are you thinking about (I can't remember whose 1892 they bring in)? I've been impressed with Uberti stuff as a whole. Some of the Armi San Marco and Armi Sport stuff not as much. Again, can't recall whose doing what now...
I may have gone off the deep end! I want to start a small livestock farm. Not looking to make a ton of money. just sick and tired of livin in the ratrace. Mostly want to get into this because I love raising animals. Let's see... you're young, don't like the rat race, and have an opportunity to do w...
Thanks for the Welcome Aboard! I read here that Steve is recovering from surgery, so I'd be waiting a little while to send it off to him, if I do. Any idea what the turn-around time is for standard tune-up job? I was worried about empties ejecting right on my head with that open top, but they were ...
When I was a kid I had a Green River knife. Somehow it got away. Since I am now reliving my childhood I looked for one and found these guys. http://www.crazycrow.com/ They have a lot of cool stuff and a Green River knife like mine isn't very expensive. http://www.crazycrow.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv...
You couldn't pay me enough money to live in CA. Don't get me wrong, from what I have seen of it (a lot of it), it is beautiful, the weather is beautiful, the women are beautiful, but there are just too many darn people. The laws - including the gun laws - are crazy, and I don't speak Spanish.
Yes, they are cool, but that grip doesn't fit my hand very well, I think my 44mag has the slightly different Blackhawk Grip instead and it fits me better. The Super Black Hawk grip is indeed different - though the same plow-handle shape - of the regular Black Hawks. At least the old models of each ...
They have had another 336 that someone camo painted priced at $225 for months. I offered $200, but they turned it down. You offered a pawn shop cash money on a common rifle someone "bubba-smithed" the finish on - only $25 less than what they were asking - and that has sat in their shop fo...
20cows wrote:Try another gunsmith. I don't think there is anything that can go wrong on a Uberti that a good gunsmith can't fix, particularly timimg issues!
Ditto. Heck Tom, if someone gave it to you, you can put some money into it and still come out way ahead!
I was trying CCI subsonics (man those are accurate little buggers and quite too). Those CCI subsonics are "quiet" as well! Jason, don't put up with that. It's new - have Savage make it right. No point plunking down hard-earned cash and putting up with problems right out of the box....
