Re: My Latest Acquisition and Project...
Ya know, I've never been a fan of Marlins or short mags but that is one sweet looking, handy gun you have there. It could ride in my truck anyday! Agreed on your photo's. Think I'll mail ya some of my guns so you can take some pics. LK Sure thing but I should warn ya, it sometimes takes me 20-30 ye...

Re: My Latest Acquisition and Project...
Thanks for the kind comments on the gun and pics. The camera is just a little Canon point-and-shoot but it does take pretty good pictures. The lighting is just natural sunlight. :) Really nice trapper! Do you think that back sight is going to get it the way in heavy stuff? No Blaine I don't. I have ...

My Latest Acquisition and Project...
For a bunch of years I have longed for a short-barreled Marlin carbine. I very much like 20" barrels and without question adore my 1895CB but I just always had that itch to have handy little lever gun. My 1895G has kept the pot from boiling over for a good long time but I'm a 30-30 guy and that...

... And the ending was closer to the book, but the part with Cole Younger and Frank James was not in the book, I believe. Also, did anyone get it, but me, that the ending, where she told Frank James to "keep his seat, white trash" was nothing more then a slap in the face to Jessie James o...

Re: OT- Just got back from seeing "True Grit".
I swallowed down my absolute disgust and fervent dislike of Matt Damon and drug my backside to a theater and forked over my cash to see this one. Second time in ten years that I've gone to a theater, Grand Torino being the last time. I'm a dyed in the wool Duke fan but I too enjoyed this remake very...

Mic McPherson...?
Please forgive me if this is a oft asked question.
I've long been fascinated by Mr. McPherson's work, thoughts, etc. and think having a lever gun worked over by him would be quite something indeed.
Does anyone know if he is still accepting work?

Re: Using A Buckhorn Rear Sight As A Peep Sight
... Skinner Sights offer a barrel mounted aperture sight that is splendidly low: http://www.skinnersights.com/barrel_mount_6.html It has the additional advantage that apertures of different sizes can be used. However, the elevation range is limited, and adjustment requires loosening a set-screw. Ne...

Re: Marlin lever swap?
Marlin's web-site has their manuals in PDF format. http://www.marlinfirearms.com/customersupport/manuals.asp I looked at the 1894 manual, and noticed that there are different lever part numbers for some of the different models, and that Marlin listed the lever as restricted to gunsmiths, so there m...

Looks like a duded-up rear echelon type posing for a picture for his beloved mother. Like old money bought him the newest stuff to really look the part but the most thrilling mission he's commanded were wagon inspections. Not trying to be hyper-critical of an old photo and man passed, that's just th...

Howdy All, I've been a lurker around here for a good while and while I don't post a lot I do very much enjoy the forum and I think I've read every article posted on the main sight a dozen times. :D I thought I'd post up some pics of my little Marlin lever family. Re: High see threw rings!
Seems to be an endless topic of debate. I have see-throughs on my 336W and they aren't coming off. I don't honestly know why I like them but I do. Maybe years of shooting M16's. I don't know. I have ZERO trouble with cheek weld and I shoot that rifle very well. They were on that rifle when I bought ...

Re: what gun you wish
Only one gun I could of had and wished I would've. A Ruger Black Hawk. It belonged to a friend of mine. A serious gunman and amateur (meaning by vocation only) gunsmith. It was a 4 5/8" bbl nickle-plated BH that started life as a .45Colt. At that time there were no production runs of conversion...
