Re: what gun you wish

In '74 I bought my very first "own" deer rifle. Winchester '94 30-30. $99.95 OTD. Shot a bunch of deer with it. Got older and dumber and got all hyped up on boltguns, scopes and long range. Gave the 30-30 to my step brother. He shot his first deer with it. As did his brother. Now he lives ...

Re: Chaparral '73 and '66 on CDNN?

Out of curiosity, which company actually makes the Chaparral's? Thanks, John The Chaparral guns are a re-incarnation of the old italian company, Armi San Marco. The only Cowboy gun making company that I know of that has manage to go bankrupt three times in the height of the Cowboy Action shootings ...

Chaparral '73 and '66 on CDNN?

Morning all, I PROMISE, I did use the search button first. And I DID see all the horrible problems with the Chaparral '76s, but I didn't see much anything about the '73s and '66s. My problem is my Henry Big Boy .357 is whining for company and I saw the Chaparral '66s and '73s on CDNN for $599. Yeah,...

Re: Henry big Boy Vs Marlin 94

The Henry is a great rifle, as is the Marlin. Something worth noting about the Henry....Lifetime warranty, even if you buy it second hand. And their reputation for customer service is second to none. I love my .357 Henry. As slick a levergun as I've ever worked. But as has been said, a lightweight b...

Rear sight for Henry .357

Recently picked up a Henry .357 Big Boy. Fun gun. I've had it out busting cans and such a few times, but now I want to see what it can do for me as a woods deer rifle. I'm about useless with the Marbles semi-buckhorn. Eyes you know. Don't want to ruin the looks by mounting a scope. Besides, I'm not ...

Re: I know I'm new but I have to share this. Henry Service

Great hearing another story about Henry's customer service. BTW I recently bought a used Henry Big Boy .357. After I received it, I sent Henry an email inquiring about service should I need it. Their response was that they would still warrant the rifle despite the fact that I bought used. I found th...

Re: New member picking up new gun tomorrow

Know what you mean about the disease kimwcook. While my FFL was calling the sale in to NICS, I was browsing the shelves. There was this nice little Henry in .22 WMR. It kept calling to me......I got out of there without bankrupting myself, but it was a close thing. Of course, I've got the Henry .357...

New member picking up new gun tomorrow

Hi All, Really glad I found this site. My first ever deer rifle back in 1974 was a Winchester model 94 30-30. Gave it to my kid brother about 8 years later to get his first deer and have been hunting with bolt guns ever since. Recently I've decided that shooting deer in open fields at long distance ...

Re: OT - Speaking of big kitty cats

glad to hear a confirmation of their presence there. I know what I saw but I have never heard another say they are there. Who would have thunk it?. thanks again In '06, I think it was, DEP said something to the effect that there might be a few escapees or pets that got turned loose. Of course, what...

Re: OT - Speaking of big kitty cats

Great story. In the mid to late 80's I was walking my lab in the woods in Ct. We came across a critter with a snarling face and a light brown coat - a mountain lion as sure as I am sitting here, sitting on a rock ledge about 40 yards in front of, 10 yards to the side of, and about 15 feet above the...
