Re: OT, maybe: .45 cal revolver cartridges round up.
No, sorry. I just remember seeing ads for it in some of the gun magazines about 25 years ago. I do recall that Ross Seyfried wrote a few lines about it once in an article about the heavy .45s. It was a rimless case and therefore headspaced on the case mouth, so it wasn't as versatile as the Colt or ...

I haven't looked for roll caps for many decades. Can you still get them? I thought the blue-nose "can't-let-the-kids-have-any-fun" types got that stopped back in the early '70s.

There's another you've missed: the North American Arms .450 Magnum Express. I recall it was a slightly lengthened .45 Win Mag, in a 5-shot SA revolver, that disappeared shortly after it debuted. The revolver looked a whole lot like the Freedom Arms, but the rear sight was better.

Caps won't be any easier to find than primers if things get bad. If you want to be assured of having something to shoot, you need a flintlock.

I've mentioned it before, but there is a good article in the "Handguns 2001" (the Krause annual) by one Kirk Paradise about making shot loads. He says that the "gas check/shot/gas check" type load doesn't pattern very well. The article describes the use of .444 Marlin cases cut d...

My reading of Lee's info on Federal primers is that the primer compound itself is the source of Lee's recommendation to not use them in a Lee Auto-Prime. Lee always said that Winchester and CCI primers were fine in the A-P. CCI and Speer were part of Blount, Inc. when Speer was saying not to use the...

Mike, IMHO, the 454 Casull in a Freedom Arms is the way to go if you want a powerful revolver. If you're okay with a 5-shooter, it may be the way to go. A Ruger Super Redhawk in .454 is a 6-shooter; plus, it's got a longer cylinder so you can load ammo longer if need be. On another note, does anyon...
