Hmmm. Still might chance some tent camping. Its not a big tent, particularly.

OT - Ukiah, CA-the Scoop
Hey guys, I'm going to apply for a job in education in Ukiah, CA in the next coming weeks for the next school year. Even after applying, I wouldn't know for a few months if I got the job, but it sure sounds right up my alley. Small town, forests near by, more pay, less expensive homes then here. Any...

It might just be me and Prof. Loudenboomer who would want to try the 600 yard range, although JReed might be interested as he has to qualify at 500 yards in the Marines. Anyone else interested in the the long range stuff? I just thought it would be neat as it is not something commonly available. -Tutt

JReed, nice pics!!!! I think its neat that you hunt with such a cool old rifle, given to you by your Dad! :D I didn't know they made synthetic stocks for the SMLE's, but it seems appropriate for your Dad's rifle. I'm very glad you had a nice time, and it does remind me of home somewhat (as per...

OK guys, I reviewed the entire thread for everyone's restrictions, and looked at a calender for all the 3rd Sunday's or 4th weekends. These are the choices I came up with: Feb. 23rd-24th (4th weekend) March 16th (3rd Sunday) April 13th (3rd Sunday) The Feb. weekend might be good if we can still get ...

Ysable, sorry to say that that particular time is part of Spring Break for me and another fella and we already have big plans, so it won't work. What needs to happen here, is there needs to be TWO Levergun's Family Reunions and Shoot Holidays. One out here in the West and one much closer to you in S...

This is shaping up real well. I'm hoping the location wil draw some other Northerner's like myself (I'm 4 1/2 hours away, but have friends and family down there). Ysabel, you sure have some nice family heirlooms there. I'm jealous. I used to be a massage therapist, believe it or not, and I worked in spas in Calistoga, CA before I started my new career 5 years ago. I was very good at it, and enjoyed it, but couldn't make enough money, and afford time off for m...

Jeremy, when I was a kid, I grew up playing with my Dad's Navy dress sword and a piece of a tail-hook that had broken off of a jet that had landed on my Dad's carrier (the U.S.S. Independance). He flew an A-4. I still have it (it is very similar to your new sword), as well as other keepsakes from my...

Hobie, GREAT THREAD! I'm jealous of those of you whose fathers taught you had to hunt and use firearms. My Dad taught me many things, but I'm the first one to dabble in firearms as far as I know. The records only go back two generations on my father's side, and less than that on my mothers. Lo...

Tutt Meets Prof. Loudenboomer
While I was on vacation, I also paid a visit to my new friend, Professor Loudenboomer. This is not the Professors real name, but he does not think it is prudent to put his personal information on the 'net, and chooses to remain anonyomous except with his friends. Some of the board will recognize him...

71 and friends, I could come down south for a weekend in Feb. or March (except the last week of the month which is Spring Break, and I already have plans). Jeremy, are you close to San Diego too? Honestly, I couldn't have spent any time on that trip as it was the one day I had to spend with Mom. 71Fan, I lived in North County San Diego from 95-03 or so. I used to motorcycle all over the place, and go shooting at some areas close to Warner Springs. After all the casinos were built in East County, and traffic increases where I lived, it seemed like a good time to get out. The casino's really ...

Taurus did in fact offer the RB in 45 Colt for a short time. My FFL dealer in San Diego had one. I don't know if they were a 5 or 6 shot. If a 5 shot, I would say yes, it can handle the Ruger loads. If its a 6 shot, it most likely can. Terry, I also had an ealier generation 454 RB that did not hold ...

Griff, your very welcome. It does seem like a neat area, particularly if you like off-roading. Ocotillo Wells is an OHV Park, and is crawling with quads and stuff. But the area I went to was pretty untraveled when I went. '71 Fan is right, probably its greatest attribute is it is one of the few plac...

Tutt in Anza Borrego
Guys, I thought you might appreciate a few pics of the Anza Borrego Desert. I took my Mom out for a one day adventure of off-roading in Ocotillo Wells within the Anza Borrego Desert State Park while I was down there for Christmas Break. I also spent some time with Old Savage as some may remember. An...
