I've never used a five inch barrel in a Commander length pistol. But probably the answer is it depends. If the five inch is one diameter for it's full length it may work. The extra 3/4 " probably won't make much difference. Large bore, low pressure rounds gain with length, but I would guess 20 ...

Nope, not prone to breakage. They look great when fitted properly. A friend of mine has an old one that he built a stock for and it is to die for. He's doing the same for one of mine right now! They are plenty strong enough to rechamber for either the .454 or the .460 Smith. Great little guns. Cat

Before you go adding one or two percent tin to your alloy, try it. If you get good cavity fillout then there is no need for it. Tin is not cheap. Water dropping does harden a boolit. That was an interesting link and worth reading, thanks.

I have a single cavity Lyman 429215 mould that I milled the gas check shank off of. It now gives me a 190 grain bullet. I did it just for using in the Bulldog which I didn't get until two years later! :) I'll have to give it a go.

I found a three inch stainless Bulldog at a show a couple of weeks ago. Sad shape, shows that you can rust "stainless" steel. Needed a couple small parts so I called Charter and a human being answered the phone! Very nice. She was very helpful and got my parts off to me quickly and cheaply...

If you size them at .452 with lube, then when you size them smaller the lube grooves won't disapear the lube will preserve them.

As I've only used that lube for it's intended purposes I can't speak to how well it will work for brass. I would think it would work well, it's a fairly high pressure lubricant. The lube will dry out if left exposed to the air. It will also wash off completley with just water because the lube itself...

With my Trapper, I stopped at 20 grains of 2400 under either the 260 or 315 Keiths. The 260s knock the 200 yard Rams down just fine. That is if I do my part. :) They do all I need.

I have two, both 94 Angle Ejects in 45 Colt. Wonderful rifles, very versitle and accurate. Nice power also, esp in such a short light carbine.

I have a Franken Marlin 336 in 38-55 that I'm seriously considering making a trapper out of.

If he places the .357 correctly, it should do fine. Allmost any flat-faced lead bullet in the .45 Colt at a velocity over 800 fps should do fine also. The .357 really wakes up in a rifle, but of course the .45 will hit harder given similar loading levels. Of course, it will hit harder at both ends. ...

When you buy brass in a caliber you don't have, to maybe neck up for a gun you don't own, well. I'm thinkin' that that's a sure sign of true sickness. I doubt a 400 step program could help such a fella.
