Doing great! How about you? I got a lease this year and have already killed a doe and pig this archery season. I drew for a doe permit for Bannister but if things keep going well I may not even need it!

Well, surprise, surprise, my wife called tonight (I am presently in NV) and said that I got the permit for Bannister in the mail today. So, I guess I DO get to shoot a doe this year after all!!!!!

Those dates look good for me. I don't anticipate anything coming up at that time. I'm hoping for a doe tag but would be fine hunting just bucks as well.

Did you guys ever get a GPS unit or a popup blind? Also, what guns are you guys bringing? I'm debating between my 30-30 and my 25-06...

OSOK, I'm actually going to be in Austin next week (week of the 5th-9th) and could bring it with me if there is anything you might be able to check for me.

Yes, this is a vintage cross-bolt model. Ibelieve it to be late 60s, but not sure. The crown LOOKS OK, but I'm not sure I couold spot a problem. The bore looks good to me. I like Nikon scopes. The BuckMasters series is a really good scope for the money. It used to be that if you wanted quality, you went with Leupold, but other makers have now caught up with Leupold. For the price, a Nikon or Burris is as good or better deal than Leupold.

Just to verify, this is BANNISTER in the Angelina forest, and not Moore which is in the Sabine forest. We're all on the same page, right?

I went back to page 5 of this thread and it looked like we were all thinking similar since RK and I both have doe tags for Bannister.

Yes, 13 inch minimum on bucks, but any buck with at least one unbranched antler is also legal. Well, at least I have some meat for the freezer! A friend of mine killed a 150 lb sow this morning and didn't have time to skin it out so he called me to see if I want it. It's now cut up and in the cooler on ice waiting for me to do final processing! Yum, pig tenderloin tonight!

I think the concept here is just to get some of us together and have a fun time hunting. I don't know if the intent is to only use lever guns. OSOK was the originator so he can shed some light. I expect to hunt with my .35 remington, but I'd sure like to see some other rifles!

Yes, you can take more than one deer a day. So, you could let your son take a doe, then you take a buck (of course, just keep that to yourself since the doe tag isn't transferable). I'm pretty sure the antler restrictions are in place in that county, so it has to be either a spike or greater than 13...
