If you are interested in an exposed hammer gun, then the Pioneer Arms is the very best I have found. Greener action and nicely done. However, hard to find.

My wife and daughter each have one as their carry guns. Both guns are about 4 years old and have been shot approximately 1k rounds each. They are holding up very well. Also, both are quite accurate. The ladies (and I) are very pleased with their Bull Dogs.

I recently tested my Winchester 1200 riot gun with screw in chokes using 00 Buck Shot. I patterned improved cylinder, modified and full. The modified choke shot the tightests.

Nice gun indeed. I still have the one I bought when they first came out. Mine is chambered in 7mm International Rimmed. I used it as a production gun for IHMSA. Shoots very well!

The particular round I have in mind is a 30-30 Ackley Improved and Lee does not list a Factory Crimp die for that. OT Price Check S&W M625-3

I have a chance at a S&W M625-3 (45 ACP / 45 AR, 5 inch bbl) for $450. The gun appears to be in excellent shape with little use. I'm not up to date on S& W revolver prices. Does this sound like a reasonable deal? Thanks for any info.

I use 300 grain Remington JHP's at about 2000 fps in my Browning 1886 and 1874 Shiloh Sharps. About 20 yards is the greatest distance I have ever had a whitetail make it after a heart/lung shot with that. Most were much less.

I use APP in a 58 cal. 1861 Richmond Carbine and a 44 cal. 1st model Colt Dragoon. Works very well in both with modest fouling, good accuracy, easier clean up and plenty of smoke. However, I've only use "white" powder in my 30-30.

Definitely, go for the tang (or receiver) sight. Each of my lever guns and Sharps have them. For hunting and low light conditions, use a relatively large rear aperture.
