1886, I also find it hard to imagine there was enough force from the firing pin strike to the primer to throw the bullet that far. I guess that would depend on how strong your hammer spring is. I've had bad primers before, but never have I had a bullet jump from the primer strike alone. +1 ive seen...

yeah, i do have an old red ryder from my youth, but ive never really thought of it as a "lever gun".
