Imagine if you were sitting next to this guy at the range. You did not load his ammo, you may not even know him. But you could get seriously injured through no fault of your own. Makes wearing safety glasses make a lot of sense even if you are not actually shooting.

I have a nephew that was bitten on the face by a cowdog. He was very young at the time and now he still fears and mistrusts all dogs. I would rather avoid that with Jaeger.

BTW boys, I am not going to get into political discussions or even read them anymore. It just is not worth the hassle. I don't particularly care what you think the cause of the American Civil War was or what you want to call it. It happened too long ago for me to be too worried about re-fighting it....

I think about that pistol/rifle saying every now and then, and it seems to me that if perps are close to you, your rifle wouldn't be any better than the pistol, perhaps worse. I don't have a lot of choice in the matter. Of course I shoot black powder in my main hunting rifle and I keep that clean, but I do leave a coat of mineral oil in the bore after I clean. Funny thing though, when I clean on the range, I shoot from a clean dry barrel for the beginning of every string....
