Read the box o' truth article on the Judge, then read the one on snake loads for the .38 and .44 revolver. Pay special attention to the pattern pics, and then remember that the .410 out of a 3 inch revolver is about 750 fps, the 38 or 44 shotshell load is about 1000 fps.

My 1974 vintage Marlin 1895 is very accurate with 53 grains of H-335 under the Rem 405 JSP. It also kicks like an Army mule and has a muzzle flash that has to be seen to be believed at dusk.

Marlin made an 1895 LTDIII that is very similar, having a 18.5 inch octagon barrel. I have one and it's my favorite .45/70.

Mine is a 1974 model. It's the one on the right, and wearing a K2.5 Weaver scope.

It's 1.5 MOA accurate (wither a higher magnification scope) and has taken it's share of game.
