I bought our two boys Swiss Army knives a couple years ago.. Had to tell them both not to take them to school because they'd get in trouble. Twenty some years ago when I was in school, if you didn't have a Swiss Army or some other kind of pocket knife you were wierd. We made cross bows in shop class...
I work for a large insurance restoration construction co. Got a call this a.m. for a garage fire. The home belongs to one of the local PD's K9 officer. Not a real bad fire, everyone was fine and mostly smoke and drywall damage. Fire was started by a plugged in(and brand new  ), but not on, sp...
I was complaining about +7 the other day. Once in a while we get well below freezing. Worst I can remember was -13 a couple years ago. Rarely lasts more than a day or two.
Probably my all time favorite woods gun/ cartridge. Knocked off a heck of a lot of woodchucks, coons , possum and strays with my 32-20s. Right now I have four. Two 92 rifles, one's a beater I traded a No4 Enfield for( came in pieces). The other I bought at an auction when I was in college. It's a be...
You really have me wanting to get a canoe. I've been wanting a kayak but been leaning towards a canoe lately. That way if one of the kids or Boss lady wants to go along they can. There was a guy down the street selling one like yours last summer w/ the out rigger and a sail. Didn't have time to stop...
I met up w/ John at last year's Pa finals. Man what a BLAST! Can't wait to shoot another one.
Make sure you have easily adjustable sights. I shot it w/ standard rear buckhorn sights on my rifles. Would have done much better w/ tang sights or an adjustable receiver sight.
Wow, I've never been to a range that they won't let you pick up your own brass. If they think I'm gonna leave a pile of 450 Marlin brass ( or anything else) just so they can scrap it they're gonna get an ear full. Our local club leaves a bucket out if you don't want it. I have to admit I've dug thro...
My Dad and Grandfather are/ were Masons. When I asked my dad about it he believed that though a great organization that it was not for me. He knew I'm not a religous guy and that it would be an uncomfortable setting for me and I was most likely was wanting to join just because they were members. As ...
I know for a fact that both of my Grandfathers ( 1902&1910) went packing in the '20s and '30s. And when they were kids rarely went w/o a .22 for small game to add to the pot. When my Dad's father went West in the '20s he ended up on the Border patrol for a few years. Was always armed in those da...
:D :D Thanks for the laugh!! Sixgun, You're not the only one. I did the same thing after replacing a fence charger that blew after it or the fence got hit by lightnig. The replacement I bought was much larger. We had a Standardbred that was Houdini reincarnate! Thought it might slow down her attemts...
I've had several. Right now I only have my Marlin LTDIII. There's a couple more I want. Though I do get to babysit 3 trapdoors and an 86 for my Dad while he's off sailing around the Carribbean.
That's how I got my Model 29. My Uncle bought it after the movie came out, though it's got a 8 3/8" barrel. Four and six inchers were really hard to come by. Anyway oneday he pulls out this mahogany case and shows it to me knowing I was really into N frames and 44's and says he's thinking about...
Most Guys don't like to give them up. Seems like when I see a used one they're priced so high that you might be better off buying a new one. I managed to bag an OM SuperBH at a show cheap. Got lucky. It was pretty worn and he didn't know what he had. I've had several 357s but I keep trading them off...
LB. Thanks for the info. I've been using a lot of XTPs. Looks like a good place to start. Tutt. Really like those grips. Where did they come from? Ridgerunner, Did that pm get through? I've got a bunch of reloads that came w/ the pistol. FMJs and lead bullets. Niether work very well and I don't know...
But I spent a half hour chasing a squirell around the oak tree in the back yard w my cat sneeze 310 round ball loads. didn't have any reason t kil it but he was just sitting there barking away,
Thanks guys. Ravenman, love the looks of your 10mm. I've been thinking about having a standard barrel put back in mine but not sure yet. It's such a great shooter as is. The Old Man always told me " If you got a straight shoting pistol, don't mess with it". I've been carying it around with...
Brain damaged this morning. Can't remember for sure but I think my lab and Dane were both fixed around three months. Boxer/ Dane mix was around seven months when I brought her home. Mainly as playmate for my lab that seemed to be lonley alone in the house all day. as far as crates. Depends on how bi...
I was having problems w/ my hand loads sticking in the Martini. I think it wasAA 2015 but I don't remember for sure its not in any of my books and it's an hour drive to get to the only place around that sells reolading components. I did dry Unique first. Had a hard tme opening the action. But the fa...
Used to belong to a good friend of mine that passed away about a year and a half ago. I was able to buy it from his family when they were selling off his collection. Knew it had been one of his favorites. I'm finally getting around to ordering dies and components to start reloading for it. Any sugge...
I did the same thing w/ a 308 , .310 round ball and 3 grains of 4064. Fired it in my basement. Bullet made more noise hitting the block of wood than it did going off! Passed through about 1" plywood. I just used standard primers and didn't alter the flash hole. Was planning on making some more ...
