Re: OT Savage 24 (pictures)

Nice to see another combo gun aficionado out there. Mine is a BRNO ZH307, which is .22 Hornet over 12 gauge. Not nearly as svelte as the Savage, but hell-for-strong and pretty in an Eastern European way.

But why stainless?
To hazard a guess: All-weather usage?

It would look nicer with a black laminate stock, IMO.

Re: OT - Favorite Slug Loads

I have a 24" smoothbore slug gun .... I don't know if it's a standard or not, but, I believe that's an oxymoron. From what I have seen, the term "slug gun" seems to have come about due to the fact that you don't/shouldn't shoot "shot" out of a rifled "shotgun" so ...

Re: OT post- 10mm Pic

What is the story about the Omeaga company? Is this an older company that I've forgotten about or are they a newer one? How is the quality of their products? The Omega was a special 1911 model offered by Springfield Armory (the previous iteration, not the current one). It is one of the standard NM ...

The 10mm is a fun handful. Mine is a mildly customized Omega:

Re: OT = off topic: what's your homeland defense rifle?

I really expected to see more Garands... Mine is a contemporary of that design: The FN-49 (AKA SAFN) http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b240/rbmcmjr/safn1.jpg This one is ex-Luxembourg and chambered for .30-06. If I had to stick with what the troops are using, ammo-wise, it would be my Savage 99E in ...

I love a nice revolver, but the roony-ness of that particular model sets my teeth on edge. I'll stick with the ones I have:

John, I don't think I've ever seen a mount like you're talking about, but the one I have on my M39 is just opposite of what you described. Mine attaches to the receiver via the holes drilled there and has a portion that extends out over the barrel almost to the point that it touches the rear sight....

Savage 99

It still amazes me that he came up with such an advanced design so many years ago.

Marlin 39A for fun, though.

That is, if you have a gun, you pull the trigger once and more than one shot is fired, that firearm is a machine gun.
This statement makes me worry for all of those older shotguns that sometimes double under recoil.
