Re: Which Receiver Sight for a Browning 71 High Grade
I have a Lyman on my 86, but I prefer the Williams FP for my two Win 95's, my Guide gun and my 71. The reason is once you sight the gun in for what your shooting you can lock the sight. Much better for hunting the brush. The Lyman has a quick release on the from which can get caught and throw the si...

I have a 48' Winchester Mod. 71. I love it. I have hunted elk and deer with it. I am confident that I could take any game in N. America with the rifle. I reload for it as well as use Winchester factory loads. I have enough hand loading components to last me the rest of my life. This is one of my fav...

I use Barnes TSX .300 gr bullets in my .405 win. They are a great hunting load. I use them over IMR 4198. I haven't used them in my .45-70 Govt. I like the 300 gr. Noslers for that. Let us know how the work.

I use the Barnes TXS for Elk. I use the Hornaday 300 gr. Jacketed Flat point or Spire point for Black bear. I use Montana bullet Co.325 gr. cast for target, and sometimes for black bear. This is a great round. There are still good components out there if you look around. I use Reloader 7, and H-4195...

My .405 Win. is definitely my favorite gun. I hunt elk and bear with it and anything else that needs a good smack down. This is a great round. It will put them down. Well I'll take another view. You already have an 86, so I say go for the 95 in .405 Win. I have both. I use my 95, in .405 Win.much more. I hunt with it, elk, bear, deer, whatever. This is one of my favorite rifles. My 86 will go before the 95 goes that is for sure. Good luck, either way you win. ht...
