So along this train of thought, can i use a 30-30. Fc die on other .30 cal cartridges? Whats the difference between one for 30-30 and one for 30-40?

A Sharps question. Sharps vs. Trapdoor
been listening to a book about the Little Bighorn. It said after 8-10 rounds some troopers were having to use their knives to pry cartridges out of their trapdoor springfields, as either the actions were too gunked up or the copper shells were too soft. which made me wonder about the Sharps rifle (w...

Very cool gun! I like the hacked down enfield too. I got to handle a trapper length 1885 highwall recently, i suppose that'd be heresy to some but i thought it was pretty cool and handy. One in 38-55 would be pretty neat. I also love some of the sporterized and scouterized krags i see. There's a fel...

This led me to enfield-snider.com. Neat site! I really like the look of those carbines. Would look awful nice next to a trapdoor, sharps in 50-70, and a spencer! I'd better go win the lottery.

BlaineG, This was the first year (since i've been down here) that you could get two tags instead of one. You could get one in the draw and later buy a leftover tag, though your second tag had to be for a different hunt. But since the west bank is a different hunt unit than the east bank, i got a tag...

javelinas are not the most delicious table-fare, but a hoot to hunt. I was still-hunting the San Pedro River here in southern Arizona and came upon a herd spread across the river. I managed to take a pig from either bank before they scooted out of the river and into the mesquite thickets. The shots ...

I know about the winchester '76s in 45-75 for the Mounties, and the 1895s chambered in .303 most likely for the Canadian and British markets, and that got me wondering. . . What are Canada's most historically significant cartridges? What are the similarities and differences from the cartridges that ...

You know I actually like a collapsible buttstock. 1. People of all sizes can shoot it comfortably. 2. You can adjust the length of pull to suit yourself in different clothing, t-shirt vs winter parka. But I got to admit that wood buttstock does take away a little of the homeliness.

I was wondering if anyone could give me a rough guess of the age of a 30-30 shell I found. Pitchy, Throw a 94 with a 20" and a 92 with a 16" barrel up to your shoulder. If you can get your hands on an M4, try it also. The conventional wisdom was always a longer barrel produced a greater site radius hence greater accuraccy. The opposite always held true for me, even as a young m...
