Question about how marlin receivers are made?

I've been reading about some wildcat rounds that refer to using late model marlins with strong receivers.

Did Marlin change there forging process for their receivers to make them stronger?

And if so about when did this happen? Because I have Glenfield as a project gun . Thanks

A better 25 caliber in a marlin something close to the 250 savage. There is no small caliber leverguns available right now.

Very intersting info. It's always interesting how things aren't as straight forward once you start these projects.

Well I figure the articles are resident on the authors hard drive and can be resubmited and set up like the old site as a reference library.

Are all the articles and references going to reposted here?

We all don't have a memory like Hobie so we need the material to reference.

Big Bore , I figure .369 bore makes sense if grooves are .003 deep that would put it at .375.

I would be interested in it if the .375 jacketed bullets are O. K. to be used in this bore. I'll wait till I can get more info from this thread.

What is the bore diameter of a 38-55 ?

I checked with Numrich today on their 38-55 octagon barrel that is threaded and reamed for a 94 win. Since no bore diameter was listed I asked and the gal said .369 bore. I also checked on the 38-55 barrel on sale at Buffalo arms and no bore diameter is listed. Now I want to shoot both cast and jack...

Just had this conversation with my neighbor . He wants a 257 robert s bolt but wasn't impressed with the rugers matte finish instead of a nice blue. I told him to get a mauser and have it rebarreled to 257 roberts and put a manlicher stock on it with a 21 inch barrel and you would have a nice woods ...
