Alot of options. You could send it back to Marlin , if they make the length barrel your looking for. Get it rebarrelled by a gunsmith using a barrel blank. Done to your specs.Prices will start around $300. Get your existing barrel bored out. for around $200. No other mechanical stuff is needed since...

Anyone use Gun Kote finish?
If so , how do you prep the metal? Do you get it real smooth or leave it rough? Does it go straight onto the metal or do you need some type of primer? Is it easy to work with? Thanks.

Thanks Griff, There is a gunshow in town this weekend and I'll be looking for a post 64 to compare to. I have only $20 into the pre 64 cap and tenon . So I'll probably stick with that. The post 64 forearm I got will need some wood taken off to get it down to the right size to fit the end cap . Hopef...

That is the one that I ordered. If there is one long screw that goes from one side to the other. Shoudn't one side of the cap be threaded ? Also what kind of a hanger is on the barrel to secure it? I have the endcap with the tenon. But my forearm wood is for the post 64. It just seemed like a lot ex...

I like the lyman they are a little slimer than the williams. I don't notice a problem with my hand touching the sight , but you will notice it's there. I use a gold bead sight. But a post sight with a white line down works good in low light. Any front sight you buy , you have to do a little filing t...

Difference between pre 64 and post 64 forearm cap?
I'm trying to put together an octagon barrel post 64 rifle. I picked up a forearm end cap at a gun show and it didn't fit ,seemed to small. I ordered a post 64 after market forearm cap from numrich and it is identical to the one I already have. I've been looking at pictures and it seems the post 64 ...

My family has used an small old chainsaw. Remove the blade , put a chuck on the end of the output shaft and install a reversed turn drill bit. Been using it since the 70's. Cordless drills will work . Just not as fast. Won't be tapping this year , too much snow. Usually only tap every other year any...

Junkbug, It's the Williams fool proof that works. The lyman 66WB won't get low enough with out the windage adjustment screwhead hitting the receiver. The fool proof is wider and clears the receiver on the non mounting side. If the adjustment screw head wasn't so big on the Lyman it would work. Trust...

Finish options for 94 receivers?
I have a 1974 vintage 94 receiver I want to refinish. I tried cold blue on one a couple years ago and it didn't hold up. I stopped by Lauer custom weaponry to check out Duracoat. Now Steve wasn't in but the gentleman there said it goes on as a pretty thick coat. He said more than 1mm thick. So I don...

It's hard to keep a gunshop open selling guns alone. The best small town gunshops are in the hardware stores. They have enough overhead to keep the guns around between hunting seasons. Also the big box stores are different based on the local manager. The Gander Mountain by me has outrages prices on ...

If you reload don't use the 180 grain Remington round nose. My gun doesn't have a very long throat . The 180 's would shoot awsome , but that was because they were contacting the rifling. I found this out by unchambering a loaded round and it wouldn't come out . I had to tap it out with a cleaning r...

The problem I had with the 22 hornet was price. Most manufactures put it in their standard short action rifles. CZ has a smaller action than their short action for 223 and 22 hornet .But the price was over $500 dollars. I beleive the same for ruger. The offer it in there 22 mag action. Now this year...

NOT OT - not controversial- Marlin OAL -33 Win ?
I was reading about the 33 Winchester. I was wondering if a Marlin 45-70 could be converted to this. The OAL of 33 win is 2.795 and 45 -70 is 2.550 inches.
So the question is what is the maximun length cartridge the Marlin action can handle ? Or is this cartridge only good in the 1886 or 1895 win?

Iceman is the crimp groove in the right spot on the 200 grain hornadys? I thought the crimp groove on the 200 grains was set up for the 35 rem. Anyway the 356 will have more range than the 35 rem and 375 win. I've clocked my 356 at 2400fps with 200 grain. Not sure what the 375 will do with a 200 gra...
