LINEBAUGH SEMINAR SCHEDULE 2008
I just spoke with John Linebaugh. He has cut his schedule back some. These are Seminars he will be holding this year. To attend, the price is $200. Bring LOTS of guns and ammo! These are Hands On Seminars. They are not just about big-bore pistols. There are lots of leverguns, bolt guns and other ty...

Kim Du Toit is spot on (again) about War Movies:
I stole this from Simply Rugged's Rob on another forum... Kim Du Toit is spot on (again) about War Movies: "...The premise of Stop-Loss is that a kid comes home, is promised that he won’t have to go back to Iraq, and then is told that circumstances have changed, and he has to go back again an...

LIVE FROM CSA
Miss Twyla and I pulled into Clarkville, AR last night about 7:30PM. Visited with Tom Richardson and many others at Tom's house till around 11 last night. Today we spent the day at the range. Musta been a hundred people here. All kinds of guns and ammo. The firing line was busy all day long. We talk...

Thank you, 86er for the price updates. This may sound stupid, but I have got to ask. Are any vacinations required before you go to Africa? I am asking because it just seems like I remember reading about that, sometime in the past. Also, do most people take only one gun, or do you sometimes take two...

Primer Pressure Signs
The thread about primer indications of pressure made me dig out some of the old stuff. http://www.leverguns.com/web/primer1.jpg Which cartridge had the highest pressures? http://www.leverguns.com/web/primer2.jpg The one on the left was a factory 210 gr. load fired in a .44 Magnum. If primer flow is not a pressure sign does that make it safe to ignore it?, or what should I do about it? IF it is not locking the gun up or making it hard to rotate the cylinder, and IF the loads are well under Maximum, and IF it is not noticable unless one happens to look closely at the primers ....

In my case, it's the gun. I look at it as normal for it. I get really deep primer strikes and a little flow on any spicy load that flattens the primers. 110, 296, 2400, Lil'gun.... The same loads do not flow in other guns. I could probably stone the pin a little and peen the firing pin hole, but I'...

Soon to be seen at CSA
At CSA I will be bringing the Marlin Model 94 .32-20 that I have remodeled and worked over. It has the one-peice firing pin as well as the Ludwig croos-bolt safety replacement ... and some other tricks. I have plenty of ammo. The gun will be there for anyone to shoot who wants to. AK Church on the J Bar T
AK Church dropped by the ranch this morning. He had an interesting old shotgun with him, a Stevens Model 315. He used this very gun to stop a vicious attack by a Red Squirrel and reported that it worked quite well. He donated the gun to the Mission to Mozambique. I will have it with me at CSA and w...

I am surprised that so many on here, disagree with this, as it has been taught extensively in classes on lethal defense for over twenty years. Any round - shotgun or otherwise - that is effective at stopping an assailant will not be slowed down much by sheetrock. If you have never set up sheetrock and fired into it you really need to do so .. with a number of different types of guns and ammo. #6 or #8 shot will still go completely through,...

To answer the question that started this thread: Use whatever is the most reliable in your firearm. Accuracy, power, and all those other things are useless if you cannot rely on the gun to function properly each time it is fired and the action cycled. Questions of overpenetration are fine for discus...

I took a friend's wife out for Javelina. She used an old Model 94 Winchester 30-30 with a side-mounted scope. She had it loaded with Accelerators. She whacked a nice boar at a bit over 100 yards. Excellent bullet placement, right through heart and lungs. Bits of rib from the right side were blown th...
