Re: New pistol problem
You are correct Jim. I bought a used RWS air rifle with a bent barrel. The guys son was not able to get the break barrel all the way to full cock. He let go and the barrel was sent home via spring tension. If you looked through the bore your vision was able to see the bend of about .015" . I s...

Re: Shooting a SAA makes you a better overall shooter
I think you're onto something there, Scott. Batt Masterson, in the book mentioned by JimT recently, talks about how horrible the old sixguns were to learn to shoot. Of course he lays it on thick because he was promoting the Savage auto pistol as "superior". But there's some truth in among ...

It's a shame the poster got this crossways in his craw and couldn't let it go, preferring to keep his grievance rather than allowing Skinner Sights the opportunity to refund or replace the "faulty" sight. He's been asked to reactivate his account. Hopefully he will and will return with a d...

Kind of funny, I was just reading up a bit on John W. Hardin and Doc Holliday, and you go and post this from Bat Masterson. That was a fascinating time in our nation's history for sure. It sure does look like a shot shell rim now that I see it like that. Can you put a hull in it for us? What of the slit notch? Don't have access to any 20 bore ammo here, more's the pity. It is used to pull stuck shotgun shells out of dirty chambers. Ding, ding, ding! In the detail below you can see "20" right above the duck's head. This is a stuck shell puller for a 20 gauge shotgun. The break open single shot was the ubiquitous replacement for the muzzle loader in the Am...

Some rifles are very pellet picky. Kind of like some 22 rifles as far as ammunition preferences. I keep a wide variety of pellets on hand for that reason, to try out in different rifles to get a feel for what they like. My AirArms rifles do seem to have a preference for JSB's, but I've got some H&am...

Empty, plowed, fallow fields are great for walking shots onto a target. Up in NW CO one year we were invited out to a family's place. We ended up on the deck, shooting out at random weeds in an empty field. It was the first time I got to try my 3" Taurus 44 spl past "normal" ranges. O...

Long range can be relative. I like to stretch out the Baikal IZH46M to 50 meters, although it's been quite a while since I did that. My first reloading setup that involved more than a knife and a stick was one of the Lee Loader kits for 38/357. The trouble I ran into was it only resized the neck area. So a cartridge fired in a loose chamber could not be reloaded and fired in a tight chamber. Later I picked up a Lee Speed Die and ...
