Re: Where have all the Rossis gone?
For years people have been herded toward the 9mm/5.56 by the gun press, FBI, web media etc. Ammo for both was cheap in bulk and terminal performance was truthfully billed as 'good enough'. People consolidated on them in droves and now many are dependent on whatever ammo trickles out at scalper price...

Fantastic rifle in a great cartridge and you shoot it very well. I've killed a few deer with the '06 and it never disappoints. Only one of mine was over 300 yards, about 340 by my calculation and google earth's. I can tell you at that distance, a 150 grain Nosler BT (started at 2944 fps) sounds like...

I was about to hold my nose and get a Henry Big Boy Steel 44, for the faster twist. But I handled a tube loader and disliked the matchbook-striker finish on the receiver flats, along with the checkered stock. The finish I can improve but there ain't enough wood there to remove the checkering. I've h...

Unless there is a serious problem, I don't like to stone the contact surfaces of the sear and hammer. They will burnish themselves in far better alignment than any of us can hold a stone. The "Door Jamb Trigger Job"! I will admit to a couple of those myself.
Try the music wire bolt/trigger spring first. These usually yield a substantial improvement and, with the normal wearing in through use, you may not want or need anything else.

Listen to Scott on this. If Remington had lost this case at trial (and failed on appeal) then yes, a precedent in civil law would have been set. But Remington didn't lose at trial. Someone decided the cost of settling was preferable to the cost of a drawn out litigation. This is standard practice in...

I couldn't get that Hunter's Supply 190 gr bullet to shoot well at all in a Ballard rifled 35 Remington. The few I had left got shoved into 38 cases with good dose of 4227, for sort of a Pugnose Super Police load. There they shot fine, but print high from an Airweight 38. IIRC I got 670 fps from a 1...

I really enjoyed reading that. When I was a kid (late 60's) we had a junk store in which had a gun case hidden way in the back. No- guns are getting more expensive. When a used, safety button Marlin that was $400 on Williams, 18 months ago is now $975, that's a price spike. It has nothing to do with a devalued dollar or inflation. The first rule of business is Charge What The Market Will Bear and right now, the market is bea...
