Well it took 50 & 120 grit paper and a lot of steel wool to get rid of the worst pitting on the outside of the barrels, the stock varnish was pretty thick as there are a few natural blemishes in the wood. I should have spent a lot more time on both wood and metal but was eager to get it out shooting...

Pitchy's candles reminded me that I have a repo Civil War campaign candle holder, it's just a oblong tin box with a swivel candle holder and enough room for a couple of spare candles, when polished up it reflects enough light to write letters back home. The way I was raised most households had a pump twelve, a repeater .22, a 30/30 or cutdown bring back Mauser sporter. In the bedroom drawer a .22 handgun and a 38 special or a bring back luger.

It's a pity that too many people worship material things these days and religion now takes a back seat in their lives, as always happens before a fall into the Abyss.

Having only ONE gun, wouldn't it be sensible to own the ONE gun you use the most? There may be (hopefully) long periods of carm between shoot outs with well armed opponents or zombies, meanwhile in the real world you may want to still shoot clays, deer, squirrels, ducks, paper or steel gongs. Excellent points on pointless laws. In the UK we can have suppressors to save our hearing but our pocket knives must not have a lock to stop the blade closing on our fingers, so why not ban brakes on automobiles ? it would certainly discourage speeding...it's all based on the same dumb logic...
