Scott - you tripped another memory switch with D'Hanis, TX.

I often hunted an exotic ranch at Hondo and one Saturday night we drove down to the Steakhouse and Honky Tonk at D"hanis. Good food and music and good times!

Re: Hard against the Border near Sanderson, Texas

Scott, Your Javelina story reminds me of an experience I had down near the Pecos River. I drove from camp to the canyon that the hunt manager had recommended for sitting to watch for deer and Javelina and parked at the rim. It seems the tires on my old Scout II were OK in town and on a good highway ...

I shot my M19 .357 a lot and it was lonely.
One day at a gun show, I came across a Winchester 1892 chambered in .357 Magnum with a 20 inch Douglas barrel and Bishop custom stocks and the price was right.
Problem solved .

I have never bothered to Chrony them as I usually hunt with lighter handloads or 158 factory loads. Even 125 grain factory ammo kills hogs well. I do...

Another plus, is that when driving around the ranch, the gun is free to draw - moreso than if carried strong side. This is true for right handed shooters.
Years ago, I bought a cross draw for my .44 mag just for driving on our hunting lease- worked out well.

Doc was correct when he said "Maybe I’m wrong ( :o ) but it sure seems like a levergun in 32-20, 327 Federal, 357 Mag, etc" The rifle seems easier to shoot accurately and does add velocity to the .357 round. 6 inch and 20 inch barrels- both just fine for their intended purpose: https://www.jpgbox.co...
