H4198 has been my go to powder with the 265 Hornady's and the 300 grain XTP's. My loads are in an XLR. I also shot some Beartooth Bullets 290 cast with gas check. They also shot well with the H4198.

Nice pictures. The San Miguel brings back memories. Drank it by the gallons when we were in the P.I. It seemed like good beer, but right about then any beer was good beer! Nice pistol and good choice in calibers. I love my 32 Mag in a single six w/birdhead grips and 4 5/8" barrel. It's a great little gun to pack every where on the ranch and on pack trips, etc. I use mine a lot to control the porcupine population so I don't spend all spring pulling quills out of m...

I've butchered a lot of beef with a 30-30. Works great. I have found one or two in the neck a little ways, but usually a 150 gr rn will stop and not mess up any meat. We used 22's a lot and every once in a while you just ran into a beef that was bullet proof. Another great butcher gun was 22 Hornet,...

I've bought two rifles in the last 3 years. 444XLR and a standard 336 CS in 35 Rem. They are both at least the equal of the older Marlins I've owned. The wood to metal fit is excellent on the XLR and very good on the 336. The XLR is the smoothest rifle of all of my Marlins, the 35 Rem is probably th...

In my experience its been:
Marlins, BLR, 99 Savage, 88 Winchester all the same, very reliable.
Had a few issues with my 94 Winchesters over the years, but not from cold, and usually the newer ones.
I think the 22's are equal.
