RL-15

I use a bunch of this powder in other rifles (30-30, 35 Whelen, 22-250, 260, 300 Savage) and was wondering if anyone used it in their 35 Remington? It would be nice to have a decent load with this. I've got quite a little on hand. I went to the Alliant website and all they show is RL-7 which seems l...

Sounds like you have 'em picked out already. Sure they'll work fine. I've used just plain old Weaver bases and rings with total satisfaction on 3 differnt 45-70 Marlins and a couple 444's. Take scopes off and put them back on with little zero change.

That rifle is a beaut! I'm jealous, my rifle was made in '90s and has much plainer wood. Shoots good though. I chronographed loads from mine and quit at 2475fps on the 300. Never did show any pressure with H4198, I just ran out of shoulder! I guarantee everything shot with those 300JHP's and Partiti...

Let me say from experience, these are really nice rifles. Mine is a tack driver. Right after I got it I just threw together a load with H4198 and the 46 gr Speer. At 25 yards it grouped in one ragged hole. Almost shoots itself. Seems like everything you point it at gets a hole poked in it. Can't say...

The Lesson

I hope this doesn't sound like bragging, but...I was out shooting at the local range. Had a few favorites with me (336CB 30-30 and 1886 45-70). Two younger guys were there banging away with their bolt guns (big, loud magnums). During a break I walked out and put up 3 full pepsi cans in the snow on a...

Just about everything except elk/moose/bear. I use mine on the ranch a bunch. I shoot prairie dogs, woodchucks, skunks, livestock killing dogs, coyotes, foxes, porcupines, butcher beef and hogs, put down cows and horses, and whacked a deer or two. I'm kind of in the minority on my bullet selection I...

Thanks for the ideas. I think my wallet will dictate the butt cuff for now. This gun is going to need re-blued as well because of some deep rust pits on outside of receiver.

I'll bet that fat cow ate real good! Those bullets look to do the job. I really like your rifle. I have one in 444. I haven't shot it that much but all the loads I've tried don't shoot as well as the leverevolutions. That gun looks so good you've got me thinking mine might need that treatment.

'86 Stock

I have a new(er) 86 TD with a pistol grip and crescent butt plate. It's a good shootin' rifle but will numb your arm when it's even a little out of position. I'd like to get a shotgun style stock put on and wondered if any of you knew who would or could take care of that? I thought about lacing a le...

I see a few others here from Wyoming, which is where I'm from. I live on and run the family ranch here in SW Wyoming. Been in our family since the 1860's. Still harness a team every morning to feed cattle. Still like those old leveractions. Still like horses better than 4 wheelers. I hope my kids ha...

I really hope this comes true. We've seen the hunting be decimated by these nasty killing machines in the northwest corner of WY. They are coming south at an alarming rate. We now have some down here on the UT border. If they can get it passed my son (10) might get to experience what good elk and mo...
